I just got my Mustang Floor about a month ago, and I'm looking for a good option to amp my sound, mainly for smalls gigs and practice. I'm curious about the POWER IN feauture of the Frontman 212r, so I can send the sound from the unbalanced out of the MF straight to the amp's PA section, just like a mustang amp would do.

Anyone has tried that out? Do you think it will be a nice match? Will the sound of the amp models remain intact, or at least be closer than if i plug it into the amp's regular guitar input? (Ok, maybe i'm just paranoid).

What amp do yo use with yours? What configuration would you recommend? I'm looking for ways to use the power of an amp without altering the tone of the pedal with the pre amp section of it

Thanks a lot.

HI rocko

I do not see why it would not be a good match. worst case you can tweak the voicing and EQ of the floor output to match nearly anything (i use mine alternatively with a homemade 8" combo and a full blown PA with excellent results in both cases)

In the other hand, unless you can get the frontman used I think that is WAAAY overpriced at 329$ right now. I mean it is a basic solid state amp with two "Fender" speakers. Compare to the Mustang 3 (same price or less) with an excellent 12" celestial (just one speaker, but more transportable IMO than the Frontman). There are also a number of excellent powered monitors out there for 200-250$ that would do a better job than the Frontman IMO as they are full range and could be used not only to plug in the floor, but also for vocals and backtracks (that would probably sound awful through the Frontman)

Hi rockotronic,

We will be happy to assist. It seems like jedi2b has offered some great advice (thanks jedi2b). What we recommend is that you connect your Fender® Mustang™ Floor to the Power Amp input, and then try the different Combo voicing selections under the utilities menu. Please let us know if we can assist further.

+1

I've been using floor-modelers/mfx units into PowerAmps/PoweredCabs/ComboEFXreturns for about 15 years now. I'm currently using a floor modeler into the power section of of an M3v2 and it kicks! It's also as light and portable as you can expect (with maybe the exception of a ZT Club12) AND it offers me redundancy and routing options/flexibility. Note the redundancy---there's nothing like a backup when you need it.

If you really need/prefer the 2-12 configuration, you might want to search the net for a M4v1. I guess it would offer you complete redundancy, stereo output, and they are being closed out for not much more than a new Frontman 212R.

Another question you might ask is "Does the Master Volume knob also control the line/PowerAmp/EfxReurn input?" This is incredibly useful on a gig and should be a plus in your buy-column if you use a floor modeler (unless you enjoy hunching over and tweaking your floor modeler on-stage during gigs). The M3 has this feature. I must leave it to the community to verify the capabilities of the Master Volume control for the M4v1 and the Frontman 212R.
