Hi

apologies if this has been asked before. I've got two questions, hopefully someone from Fender can help.
I know the Mustang V head should ideally be matched with the correct cab, ie 2x8 Ohm loads in stereo.

1)If I hooked it up to a 2x12 stereo cab at 16 Ohms per side would the head suffer any damage.
2) Can I run the head with no cabinet/no load attached and use headphones/lineout without the head suffering any damage.

cheers

regards
T

I have a non-fender cab with my fender mustang with two celestion vintage 70 elements.

A cab can have higher Ohm than the amp output, but not the opposite

For example, if the amp have an output of 150 w through 8 ohm and you change it to 16 ohm then 150/2 = 75 (ohm = resistance, so double the ohm = double the resistance). So higher Ohm on the cab will give you lower volume.

However if you feed 150 w + 8 ohm through a 4 ohm cab you will have half the resistance and there for 150 w * 2 = 300 w and your cab will go POOOOFFFF!
