Hi there
I bought my mustang I amplifier for like one month ago and everything was working fine.
Today i plugged it to my pc using a USB cord and it says "unrecognized device" when i turn it on. In my windows 8 device control i see that the error is called error code 43...
I've reinstalled fuse and the ASIO driver, but nothing seems to work.
If someone had the same problem before or knows how to fix it i would really aprecciate some help :D

From TechNet:

Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems

Diagnosis
A device driver notified the operating system that the device failed.
This circumstance can occur if the device hardware fails or if the device driver fails.

Resolution
To resolve this problem, do the following.
To open Device Manager, click Start, click Search programs and files, and then type Device Manager. A list of available matching items appears above the search box; click Device Manager. Device Manager opens with your computer name at the top and a list of devices that are installed on your computer beneath your computer name.

Locate the malfunctioning device in the list of devices, right-click the device, and then click Uninstall. When a warning message appears that you are uninstalling a device from your system, click OK. Device manager uninstalls the device.

Right-click your computer name in Device Manager and click Scan for hardware changes. Device manager scans your system and automatically reinstalls your device.

Right-click the device and click Properties. On the General tab of the device Properties dialog box, in Device status, you should see the message This device is working properly.

If the steps above do not resolve the problems with the device, and if the device is an external drive, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive, use the taskbar icon to safely eject the device, then unplug the device from the computer. For devices that use AC power, unplug the device from the electrical outlet or power strip, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the device power switch, and then plug it in to your computer. If the device includes a drivers disk, ensure that you have it handy to install the device drivers; otherwise, Windows should automatically locate the correct drivers and install them.

If you do not have a driver disk and Windows cannot automatically detect the drivers, it means that your hardware manufacturer has not uploaded the drivers for your device to Windows Update. If this is the case, you must go to your device manufacturer web site to download or request the most recent drivers for your device.

Thanks strings10927 for the quick reply.
I´ve done all those steps before making this post and reinstalling the Fender Fuse software and the ASIO drivers.
I went to device manager, then other devices (since it is not considered an USB controller as it was before this problem), uninstalled the device and scanned for hardware changes. The only problem is that it continues to say, under device properties on device manager, that windows stopped the device synce there were problems (code 43).
I´ve tried to do it again and again, but the problem still remains. When i turn on the amp it still says USB device not recognized.

OK didn't want to assume anything ....

can we also assume you've rebooted the computer after reinstalling everything?

Did you find this in the search already? viewtopic.php?f=27&t=80806&hilit=recognized

Yes i have rebooted the computer aftewards.
Still the same message appearing.
I also tested with another computer i have at home (which has windows vista instead of windws 8 ) and it says the exact same thing.
I also tested with another USB cable, just in case, but nothing changed. Always saying that the device didn´t get recognized

Hmmm same on 2 computers, did you try backing the amp settings up and then running a factory restore on the amp? Also, some people have had more luck with the AISO4ALL driver instead of Fender's AISO driver... http://www.asio4all.com/ might be worth a try.

yes I have also done the factory reset of the amp, by pressing the exit button while turning the amp on.
Sorry about my mistake, the ASIO4All is the driver that i installed in the beginning. Thanks for the link anyway :D
I´m finding this a bit strange. Everything worked well till today and I didn´t change any definition or whatever neither on the PC or the amp....

First, has FUSE ever been able to connect to your amp on either computer? I'm not sure if you're saying FUSE used to work and has now stopped, or that this is just the first time you've tried it and it doesn't work.

Second, The ASIO driver has nothing to do with FUSE communicating with the amp. FUSE uses some Windows USB drivers. So forget about ASIO for the moment - ASIO is only relevant for audio recording, such as using Ableton etc.

My understanding is that you need to have installed FUSE first, before ever plugging the amp into the computer, in order to get the correct drivers installed. If you don't, Windows "helpfully" installs some default drivers, and the later driver install with FUSE doesn't always work. As this is completely non-intuitive and undocumented, it's no wonder it goes wrong for several people.

Best thing to do is completely un-install the USB drivers. You will find them in up to three places in Device Manager: HID (Human Interface Devices); Sound, Video and game Controllers; Universal Serial Bus Controllers. They only show up when the amp is turned on and connected to a USB socket.

Only the audio device driver is labelled 'Mustang' - you need to find its hardware ID (go to 'Details' then select the 'Hardware IDs' property). You'll need to use this ID to identify which driver in the other categories (HID, USB Controllers) is the Mustang driver.

Unplug amp from PC. Uninstall all three drivers. Completely uninstall and reinstall FUSE. Reboot computer. Then plug amp into computer and see if it's any better. I can't guarantee it works, but that's the best way to 'wipe the slate clean' and clear-up any driver issues.

Errata: I just checked this; sorry, the hardware IDs don't match-up across the three devices, I'd previously thought they would. The "audio" one is still easy to find, as it's called "Mustang." For the USB one, it shows up as a "USB Composite Device." You'll probably have several of these. You'll have to note the IDs of all of them, then see which one disappears when you unplug the amp. Then plug it in again, the device will re-appear and you can de-install its driver. Then do the same for the HID device, which will be a "HID compliant device."

That's all quite long winded, I'm sure there's a simpler way but at least the above will get you there.

Thanks for your reply scott
To answer the first question: yes. My amp always got connected to fuse without any problem since i istalled it. The problems began today when i was getting ready to try to record something. It does not get recognized by fuse neither by windows itself.
About the USB driver reinstall. I had already tried to do that in the device manager, but i don´t quite get it... The thing is that when i plug my Mustang to the PC, and while looking to the device manager it doesn´t seem to appear in either of those 3 categories (HID,USb or Sound video and game controllers). It only appears in the category "other devices". It is the only thing that appears/disappears when i plug/unplug the amp. When i click it it doesn´t have any information within the properties and it is not called Mustang, as it used to when was considered an Exterior AUX input. It just says unrecognized device and does not have any information about the manufacturer or the controller of the device or any other properties information.
I´ll try to do it again and see if something changes.

Thank you both but the problem still remains.
First of all as i said the amp when its plugged to the PC does not show on those 3 Categories under device manager, so I can´t really follow the instructions on the thread you guys linked me to. The mustang I only appears in "other categories" as an "unrecognized device", without any information regarding Device info or any kind of properties information.
All it lets me do is uninstall, as an unrecognized device, which i did. When it gets connected again the message "unrecognized device" appears again in the bottom right corner of my monitor...
Don´t know what to do next... tried everything but nothing seems to work.

OK, so FUSE was working (as in, connecting to the amp), then it stopped. In between the last time it worked, and when you first noticed it not working:

- Have you made any hardware changes at all to your PC? Even plugging in or unplugging any other USB or Firewire devices, etc?

- Have you made any software changes to the PC? Installing or de-installing any other programs, drivers, etc?

- Have you done a Windows Update?

- Have you changed anything about how you connect the amp to the PC? Eg different USB cable, different USB socket on PC, using a USB hub, etc?

In Device Manager, select "Show Hidden Devices" and see if anything else Mustang-related appears.

Not sure if you've tried the following specifically, but at this stage I'd suggest:
- de-install the 'unrecognised device' driver
- unplug the amp from the PC
- reboot the PC
- completely de-install FUSE
- reboot the PC
- do a fresh install of FUSE
- reboot the PC
- launch FUSE
- connect the amp

Apologies, I hadn't spotted that cross-ref.
