Hi StratPlayerAL,

I'm very curious about your presets. I have tried several driven presets at church but I always go back to clean sounds as the driven sounds that I tried are too aggressive. If you could upload your presets that would be great! I would definitely give them a try this next Sunday.

Hi Jedi,
you know...
days ago I discovered that even with a Big Muff you can get soft sounds .. some amp models doesn't match with it, they just can't stand its high gain.
So, for me it was an unexpected result at that time .. (and in fact I later used the normal Fuzz in its place ) unfortunately can not remember what was the amp settings and the settings on big muff model .. what I realized is that if you overdrive too much an amplifier model, which is already basically high gain (it was probably American 90's, but with the gain rather kept to minimum values) .. creates excessive compression that crushes the dynamics lot and also the punch/definition of sound ..
in short, had come out of a kind of synth guitar sound like Pat Metheny .. you know the synth solo part in "are you going with me?" That kind of sound I'm sure you could use it without problems even in church.
Well, it's not the same sound because the original sounds seems a kind of trumpet (Roland Gr-300), and in addition there is the shifting +1 octava to get very high notes. But it is very similar to gentleness.

Alternatively you should try to create a round sound, making go in compression, the Twin Reverb .. if you find the right combination comes out a mellow sound. Maybe even too soft ...

Hey Jedi,

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't normally keep my MF connected to the computer. I finally had some time to connect it and upload the presets to FUSE. I've uploaded six of them.

If you search for presets by user, my username on FUSE is BBrooks. The presets I uploaded are:

Twin Reverb (Church)
Marshall (Church)
Vox (Church)
Mesa (Church)
Super Sonic (Church)
Ambient (Church)

I don't use the Marshall or the Ambient presets very often. The other four are my primary sounds. I hope they are helpful.

wow, AL, thanks a lot for taking the time to put this together! I tried them all and they are going directly to my Floor :)
The Twin/vox/ambient are inline with what I currently use. But I like more the combined use of chorus/delay/reverb you put together.
Could you suggest any song to use the Mesa/SSonic/Marshall? I would like to search for a youtube video for inspiration if you have anything in mind.

I have used the Marshall setting for some Lincoln Brewster stuff. It worked really well for 'Everybody Praise the Lord'. That's a great high-energy type of song.

And I have been using the Sonic setting lately as my main distorted sound. 'I Will Boast' by Paul Baloche is a great song. And, I've also used on 'Breakfast' by Newsboys.

Anyway, those are just a few.

Since all of us who play at church are playing similar types of music (e.g. Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Sovereign Grace, etc), I thought it would be great to share presets (stock or custom) so that we can try different ones.

I'm using a Mustang III V2 and am currently using preset #16 for clean and #28 for dirty with my Agile LP.

I did some testing with my Telecaster and use #05 for clean, #12 for chimey, and #44 for dirty.

I'm currently looking for a preset with delay to use for picking.

Please share:

1. Which Mustang you have
2. What guitar you use
3. What presets you use

Wow.....Dude...Christian is an ideology, not a type of music. Why do people have to point out that they're Christian and then separate their beliefs and activities from the rest of the human race? Is "Christian" music some holy divine magical style that encompasses everything in music and puts it all into it's own category? I think not. Music is music my friend. So maybe we could put the whole religious thing to rest and just tell us what style you play in your church. You know....Rock, R&B, Country, Jazz........Your personal belief system doesn't enter into that........Showboating the fact that you play in a Church band and directing your questions to "Christian" players only narrows your ability to learn from those who may have so much more to teach you. LOL....or maybe everyone other than Christians uses a whole different set of parameters. Hmm......

The OP has a legitimate question and is definitely not showboating. Praise and Worship music is another genra (since the days of Moses probably!) just like blues or jazz, and deserves to be discussed without getting uptight and offended. Take it easy!

I agree he wasn't show boating but to say we Christians all play this type of music is silly and totally limited in scope.

What about Christian country music, Christian pop, Christian rock, Christian metal, Christian hardcore, Christian punk, Christian alternative rock and Christian hip hop?

What about the old great traditional songs from those very old hymn books which read like scripture?

What about Gospel? Let us see, we have urban contemporary gospel, gospel blues, southern gospel, progressive southern gospel, bluegrass gospel, Celtic gospel, etc.

and yes, praise and worship.

LOL!!! I defer to you because it is too subjective for me and I am not that familiar with the artists he mentioned. :)

I didn't feel that the OP was showboating that he played in a church band, or necessarily directing his questions 'only' to Christians. I just felt like he was trying to pick the brains of players who were familiar with a particular style of music. And while I don't agree with his statement that all church players are playing the same music, there is sort of a prevalent sound in many of the popular bands playing Worship music (Hillsong, etc.), which features more delay-heavy tones, two note chords and that type of thing. Kind of U2 'ish in some regard. I have had trouble myself trying to dial in that 'galloping delay' type sound on the Mustang Floor. So, it makes sense to reach out to folks playing a similar style to try to dial in those tones. I didn't get the sense that he was devaluing input from anyone. Bummer that you were offended by his posting.

Anyway, that's my two cents worth. By the way, I checked out your music on Reverb Nation. Cool stuff man.

I don't really know of any sites specializing in tab for worship music. Your best best is probably YouTube. I know there are several 'channels' on there that have tutorials for praise and worship songs. They don't have tab, but you can get a general idea of what's going on in the song. Some of them are spot on, some of them aren't. But, there is usually some pretty good stuff on there.

This is what is working for me currently.

It looks like a lot of button pushing...
But not really.
I leave the Rev on always.
I only use the stomp and mod parameters on the Floor. (Amp modeling always on)
I have the Floor set up with same sound on 4 different buttons with varying Modulation effect, and the stomp is a compressor used for lead boosts
For the past 2-3 weeks this has worked pretty well.

This is was the preset I started with... I had to tweak it a little, but it sounds good and cleans up really well with guitar vol. It Works well with the fulltone too.
