First of all, I am new to this forum since I usually stick around the Lounge forum, so hello!

Anyway, I got a new Fender Mustang II amp yesterday. So far it is a great amp and provides amazing tones and effects. Although the amp is great, I have a problem. On my British 60's channel, (which I use a lot as I play a lot of Beatles/Stones) after strumming some chords for about 5 seconds, I start to get a modulation effect. Note that this is my custom preset, but I did not use any modulation effects while saving the preset.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Can you describe what you mean by "modulation effect" ? It's a term that could mean many different things.

Does this only happen with this one preset and amp model? In which case, are you quite certain there are no effects active within the preset; it's not always obvious on the M-2 (without the LCD screen of the M-3 etc) exactly what effects have been enabled within a preset. It's worth hooking up a PC with FUSE to triple-check this.

What is it you call your British 60s "channel"? You mean one of the 3 presets that use that position of the Preset knob? Which one?

I would start out by turning the MOD and the REV/DLY knobs all the way to the left while holding the EXIT button, i.e. turn the effects levels to "off" on that preset, and saving by pressing the SAVE button twice. See if that corrects your issue.

How did you create your "custom preset" ? To get into all the amp's features, you need to download and install the FUSE software. Did you?

Mike,
Welcome. I'm surprised to hear this, you have the v2 version of the Mustang II I guess? The random effects bug (modulation or other effects randomly coming on) has been around for a while, see http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=57048 and was supposedly cured by previous FUSE and firmware updates, though I experienced it recently despite being up-to-date on both. I just turned the MOD and DLY/REV knobs all the way down on the amp, which should not effect the output of effects included in presets. Good luck!
