Any thoughts? Thanks

From what I have read about these amps is that the stock speakers are supposedly a special design to work more accurately with the amp modeling engine in the mustang, I have the Mustang V V1 but I do not have the 4x12 cabinet, Instead I have a hand built cabinet with 4 Peavey 8's wired to two 8ohm loads, my amp sounds awesome, but I am pretty sure if I had the 4x12 cab it would sound even better., If I was you and was thinking about swapping the speakers I would just go for it, If you like the results then you are all set. If you don't like the results no worries just put your stock speakers back in and return the replacements,

Purely a personal opinion...

I see no point to changing the speakers on a Mustang. The stock speakers work well. The range of different sounds you can get from the amp, perhaps particularly the different cab emulations as we're talking about speakers, cover a wide enough spectrum that there must be something already there that provides what anyone could need. Changing the speakers may give a very slightly different sound, I doubt it will give a better sound, or anything sufficiently different to what's already available, to be worth the cost and time.

I jammed :) a 12' Celestion Seventy/80 in mine. Had to trim the front bottom of the cab to fit it in (with less than 1/2 inch to spare at the top). Haven’t cut the baffle hole bigger yet. The results (to my ears); cleans sound OK and with a light to moderate boost sounds like crap. However, the high gain stuff sounds simply incredible to me. Full of dynamics, clarity and grain, not to mention punchy, loud as hell and ten times better than before. The attack response is a bit loose and it wheezes a bit when picking super quiet/light, and I do have to turn the bass up all the way, but it’s a monster when in thrash mode, almost a bit out of control in a good way (with all of that pressure inside the cab). I still have the floor tag on mine and it blows around now when hanging in front. :) This success (to me) has spawned a new idea; a second ‘stang with a Celestion Rocket 50 stuffed in (the same driver used in Fender’s Mustang 4/12 cab). Here to hoping I can get my clean and blues vibe back on this second one because I’ll never switch this one back to anything else.

Also, for what it’s worth, my pickup is a EMG 58 in a frankencaster (neck position, no bridge pickup - I know, very weird but I'm mostly a rhythm player (the 9 volt is mounted in the bridge pickup cavity. :) This setup sounded great with the stock 8" speaker, really good with mild boost blues stuff, nothing to write home about with the higher gain settings, hence the above experimentation.
