Hello
I recently bought a Fender Mustang V head and think it might be broken.

The left speaker output has a very noticeable crackle and buzz and is much quieter than the right output, which sounds fine. This is NOT the same artifacting that users have noticed on some amp settings (especially as it is just one channel). I've also ruled out a speaker fault by swapping between different speakers, and the problem always follows the head's left output.

My question is, am I missing something out or is there something else I can try? I've tried a factory restore and updated the firmware but have had no luck.

The cabinet has 2 Eminence 1218s running in stereo (150w at 8 ohms per channel).

Any help would be appreciated.

I've just had a thought. Could this be happening if the left and right speakers aren't isolated properly within the cabinet and share a common ground? I think I remember reading that if a cabinet has a metal plate it can cause issues (this one does)

update: it was actually the grounding issue

the little pcb mono/stereo switch on the cab shared common ground between both left and right speakers. i took it out and have replaced it with two guitar jacks and used insulation tape to stop them from transferring across the back plate. simple but effective.

it now works perfectly.
