I would like to use the stereo L/R output channels of my Boss GT-10 multi-effects pedal but I am confused as what is the best way to approach this. I am using the Fender Mustang IV (v1 fizzmaster)

The Boss GT-10 has stereo Left and Right output but the input is only a mono signal

Option 1:

Use only one of the send channels as the input to my Boss GT-10 and then use the Left and Right stereo channels from the Boss GT-10 as the input for the stereo L/R return into the Mustang IV

Option 2:

Use a y-splitter to combine the Left and Right send channels from the Mustang IV and use this as the input into my Boss GT-10.

With the GT-10 I do have the option to change the input and output levels but I am not sure what settings would be best for the Mustang IV.

This will work just fine and the sound will come from both speakers, I have a Digitech RP80 that has a mono input with stereo outs and this configuration works for me with no problems

another tip would be to go the fender fuse site and download the EMPTY preset by a user named PITA this is a dry signal preset no amp or cab emulations, just a dry patch that works well with Multi-Fx pedals

I like the mustang pre-amps....except for the fizz thing they are much more tube like than the BOSS GT-10. I am only going to be using the chorus and delay effects on the BOSS GT-10.

I'm trying to get an eric johnson clean tone.....I've got my fingers crossed that the fizz issue doesn't become problematic.

Would this be any different than not using the Send and just plugging the BOSS GT-10 directly into the return? Bypassing the pre-amp and effects section of the Mustang.

You may find my, and others, replies in the following topics useful.

These topics discuss various ways to connect a Line6 POD and a Mustang Floor to a Mustang amp, but the overall connectivity options and considerations are mostly the same as for a Boss GT10.

if you are only using the chorus and delay on your effects unit I would suggest running through the FX loop

I am going to run my GT-10 into the effects loop but still use the Mustang IV for my pre-amp modeling.

I am more interested in ideas on how to balance the signal level going into the FX return?

I honestly do not know much about it, The way I would go about it if I was you would be to experiment, start with the levels low and notch them up until you find your desired effect, at least that is what I would do
