Hi I have recently purchased an Epiphone Les Paul II and Mustang 1 amp. I have been playing circa 1 year so just moving beginner to intermediate.

Just now, I have my guitar tuned to open G and have been messing around with a few of the stones classics.

I do not have access to a computer at present so am unable to use the FUSE software.

Please can some kind sole give me an idea of the amp settings that will get me in the ball park for the tone on honky tonk women as I can't get even close.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi JJ Flash,

We are happy to assist. I would say that without the Fender FUSE editor/librarian, you are somewhat limited as to how much you can "customize" your amp. However, I would suggest that you start by going through the various different Presets and adjusting the channel Gain as well as the effects to try to approximate the tone you are looking for.

This will give you a good idea of the range of the models on your amp, and give you the chance to familiarize yourself with the the amp in general. You also will hopefully come across a tone that is close to what you are looking for. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

There are a number of attempts at 'Keef' presets in the Fuse online library that you could download and try. Search under Stones, Keef, Honky Tonk Women etc; some are better than others, but if you are struggling to get close, they would be a good base to start your own tweaking.

Using the amps sims available on the Mustangs, a driven Fender Bassman or 57 DeLuxe would also be a good place to start - I suspect that most of the Keef-ish presets in the online library are built around those amps.

And, of course, open G tuning with the bottom e string removed !
