I'm a newbie here, but a Fender player for years. I just recently procured a Mustang II. I love the modeling and such but I have developed a problem that maybe someone can help me with. The amp will just shut completely off. I can "smack" the top of the amp and the power will return, but it will go off again sometimes as quickly as one minute. VERY FRUSTRATING. Obviously I have a short somewhere. I have not cracked open the chassis yet as I hope to get others' opinions. I live in rural America so it's really hard and expensive to find a licensed Fender tech. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Lee

If you just bought it recently it should be under warranty, don't open it yourself or you will void your warranty, you should contact Fender customer service and see what you can do about getting it repaired or replaced under warranty

I agree with Kreature. In the first instance, try and get it exchanged with the store you bought it from. Even if you have to mail it back to them, if you can't take it there in person. If it is a faulty amp, see if they'll pay the return postage (in UK they have to, sorry don't know legalities for USA).

If you get no joy from the store, contact Fender support, they are very helpful about this sort of thing in my experience.

I bought the amp second-hand from an individual, so I guess that solution is out of the question. I have never had a problem with any of my other Fender products, including guitars and amps. This may end up as a lesson learned in dealing with sales from individuals. Of course it played perfectly when I tried it out, so I can't say the gentleman was hiding it, but it does tick me off. I REALLY appreciate the responses!

Even though you bought it second hand, it should still have the Fender 5-year warranty. I'd check with Fender to see if they'll honor it. You might have to check with the guy you bought it from for an original receipt, unless he registered it with Fender. That should be all the proof you need for warranty.

Well, Fender outdid themselves once again! My warranty was accepted and I received a new Mustang II (V.2) today when I came home from work. That was a NICE way to come home! Thank you Fender Musical Instrument Corporation for being who you are; the best guitar/amp manufacturers on the planet!!!

Nice,, I got my Mustang V head 2 weeks before the V2's were announced. I wish I would have known that the V2's were coming out and I would have waited, my amp is still under warranty and is working fine so no replacement upgrade for me, I like my amp but feel as though I was ripped off because 2 weeks after purchase it becomes obsolete. anyway congrats on your new amp
