Hi all,

Thinking about trading in or selling my Boss GT6 and just getting a Fuzz pedal since now all i'd be using the GT6 for would be the OD's Fuzzes and Distortion. Was looking at the Big Muff Germanium 4 because I like the idea of having the dual function with the OD side. But I’m hesitant to go with the Germanium type as I really like the Big Muff sound. Now I’m thinking of going with a Swollen Pickle as I have read about the internal trim pots really bringing this pedal to life for the money.

Anyone have any advice on how the Mustang II will take a fuzz box? From what I understand, these pedals work best with a cranking tube amp so not sure how a modeling amp affects this. Would it be better to go with say a ProCo Rat or other OD type pedal?

Playing a Srat with CS 69 pickups and mostly into Classic rock/Floyd type of a sound.

Thanks very much

If you have a Mustang version 2, just configure a "Big Fuzz" on front of your amp model. It sounds fantastic and will save you some dollars :)

For some bizarre marketing reason all these overdrive and fuzz pedals worth 10$ in parts are sold at ridiculous prices. For and equivalent price you may be able to almost get a M1

thanks very much. I putzed around with it the other night and gave up. I was having a hard time getting it to "Bite". Was sounding a little bottomy for my taste. Perhaps i'll give it another go. My thoughts were if i got a stand alone stomp box I could then use the Booster or overdrive or compressor on the MIIv2 to balance it out.

I'll poke around on fuse and see if there are any big fuzz presets to help guide me in the right direction.

I would suggest you may start as a basis from wither the Pawn King preset or the Pigs can Fly preset.

I like how the big fuzz sounds coupled to a british 60 amp emulation or british colour for more drive

Another possibility would be to use the blackbox effect and orange box, depending on the config it will sound like a fuzz pedal.

I was digging the black box. Do you know what the Orange Box is modeled after? i assume black box is a Rat model.

thanks for the tips.

I have a strong suspicion :)

if tuned properly it does sound like a fuzz, but I prefer the big fuzz myself.
Fuzz is based on asymmetrical distortion (up part of the sinewave more than the down part or viceversa) that only the fuzz effect per se do completely. blackbox and orange box will also introduce some wave chopping on top of the assymetrical distortion so sound will be more driven than a fuzz pedal
