I think it would be nice to discuss the new stuff in the mustang v.2.

British Colour is now one of my favorite amps, it is less gainy than those two metal-amps, but more modern sounding than the other brittish stuff. A little tighter when palm muting but it still has that dirty brittish character. When playing metal I set the gain to about 9-10, it is neither too gainy or too weak. (or maybe it is that the emg-active pickups on my guitar have hot output).

The new "Green Screamer" is nice to have, I used to have a Maxon OD808 but sold it when I saw that the Mustang v.2 included a "Green Screamer" and I have to say that especially one knob is really useful, A MIX KNOB :) screamers can take away the bass and make things fizzy when driver hard, so this is a good thought (and it plays out good too)

I played around with the orange and black box-pedals today. I dialed in a Metal2000-amp, set the gain to 5, turned on a orange-pedal and set that gain to 3, and the result was a little angrier distortion than just the metal2000 itself. This is huge 'cause by mixing distortion from pedals and amps we can match the sound of other amps even better than before and share on the fuse-preset-library. :)

Bump.

I would have thought there would be more discussion on this topic. As a Mustang III v.1 owner thinking about upgrading to the v.2 amp, I'm waiting to hear more.

1) Is it worth it for the new sounds (amps and FX) alone?

2) I also take it that the 'hiss' issue has been resolved, right?

3) Have they changed the *original* models at all in the v.3?

FWIW, I use a Mustang III to test out guitars in whatever stores I ever go to (and thru the exact same patch, too) but when I went to a local GC the other day, their v.2 amp sounded somehow different to me, maybe a bit processed or canned. I was surprised cuz I use this amp a LOT and love it, hiss or not. (Eh, I chalked it up to an odd acoustical environment, but I'm still wondering...)

I’m new to the Mustang series and with my first experience being the V.2 perhaps I’m not the best point of reference but I will say that I’m very impressed with both the amp models and the FX. I think the Big Fuzz sounds much closer to the real thing than the one on my Boss GT6 as does the Black Box (Rat) and I’m really enjoying that. Even the modulation and tape delays to my ears sound magnificent. Really my only complaint is that the Stombox category includes both Drives and Dynamics so you can’t have an overdrive/distortion and a compressor or booster at the same time. It would be great to use a booster to shape the tone of the Big Fuzz since just like its real world counterpart, has quite a midscoop. I really hope that a future firmware update fixes that of at all possible.

No, not if you already have the v1. I am recording with mine (by microphone, not by fuse) and didnt want the fizz on warm clean tones to be part of my songs, and I wanted one mustang head for the rehearsal room/for the road and one in my homestudio/my home.

I think so. I suppose they changed engine from an Amplitube Fender-based one to an Amplitube 3-based. The cabs feels different.

I want some new cabs btw, for metal the Greenback is nice and the others are to muddy/boxxy (the V-stack sounds like the amp have been thrown into a pool of mud)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. No hiss is great, and additional amps and FX can only be good!
However, I'm still mostly concerned with any ways in which the Mustang III v.1 differs in overall sound quality to the v.2 version, *if at all*, in anyone else's experience.
Does anyone else have additional comments please? Thanks in advance. :)

I've never spent much time with a V1 model, but my miii v2 sounds great! My favorite amp model is the Hiwatt. This model alone is worth the price of the amp in my opinion. It sounds fantastic with a Tele or a Strat.
