Hi all,
I am considering buying a Boss rc3 looper pedal just for practicing but I am totally new in this world of looper pedals and I hope you can give me some advise in this.

I suppose that I must connect the pedal to the fx loop of the amp? Is this pedal worth while to buy?

I will mainly use it for practicing. Record some blues shuffles for instance and then play a solo over the recording.

You can put it before the amp, no need to run it in the effects loop. I've used it and think it's a good looper. For what you want to use it for it would be a good option. It comes with several rhythm tracks and it's easy to add drum loops from an external source. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Ok, but when I want to use some of the build in effects on the amp, don't I have to connect the pedal through the fx loop of the amp?

Suppose I record a clean blues rhythm loop and I want to play a solo over this loop with a distorted sound? Is that possible?

When will you have to use the fx loop of the amp?

that is correct, If you want to alternate presets between loop phrases you need to put the looper in the fx-loop. Or if you want to use drum patterns the fx-loop would be the right place too (or you risk your drums sounding like a guitar :)

Some loopers I have considered buying but not decided yet:
RC-3
Jamman solo
Ditto

The later is a new one, the cheapest of the group and the most basic, but also easier to use

simply connect the fx-send to the looper input, and the looper output to the fx return. If you have a Mustang V2, make sure to select looper mode on the UTIL menu.
