Two options in Fuse, to put your Fx before or after the amp. Is it supposed to make a difference, cos I can't hear one. Any other purpose to it?

Also, is there a quick way of equalising the volumes between different presets, they're all over the place, and can't seem to get them around the same.

Yes it does make a difference in the overall sound of your tone. With some effects the difference can be heard more so than others. But it all comes down to if it sounds good to you or not. If you don't perceive a difference than it really doesn't matter where you put it.

As a general rule that I like to follow, which is based on nothing but my personal preference, I like the way the "stomp" effects sound before the amp better and "reverbs" and "mods" after the amp. That's not to say I don't switch them up now and again just to try to get something interesting.

Nope. You have to go through them one by one and adjust the volume to desired level and save it. I got the EXP-1 expression pedal and I use it as a volume pedal, it doesn't solve the problem, but it helps adjust on the fly.

Thanks.

Getting to grips with something with all the permutations of possibility a Mustang has isn't the easiest thing, especially when you're not experienced using amps.

I don't hear a diff putting stuff front or back, so I guess it doesn't matter, just wondered if I was missing something I should know.

Hi,

it will depend too on which amp model you are using. For example a metal 2000 will sound saturated no matter where you put whatever you put. But try the folowing experiment:

-choose basic princeton model
-add a compressor in pre position, now try playing with different guitar volumes
-move the compressor to the post position, try playing at different volumes

you will probably hear that in the post position it adds more volume and gain than in the pre position

As an extreme example of the difference between pre- and post-effects:

Try putting a tremelo in front of a medium-gain amp. Rather than the expected tremelo effect (ie volume up-down-up-down), you'll hear a (reasonably) constant volume, but instead the amount of overdrive distortion will vary.

(Ok, obviously it depends on lots of parameters exactly what you'll hear; the above is really more of a thought-experiment to demonstrate the difference between the pre- and post- positions for effects).

Try the wah effect. Pre or post seems to make a big difference to me.
