Hi there!
(Sorry for my english, I am from Hungary...)

My III V.2 has arrived this week.
In general, I am happy with it.
My IV V.1 had been stolen before :|
I was curious about the V.2 amps and
I can definitely use its XLR output in my band, so I bought III V.2.

1) My opinions.

First, there is no fizz. My IV V.1 didn't have it either, although...
The IV had a way bigger sound,
but it doesn't mean that the III is too boxy, and unusable,
but you have to do a LOT more tweaking to get to usable tones from it,
especially if you are used to 2x12s like I am.
It's smaller, lighter which will be a big plus at our weekly rehearsals...
Its volume is the same as the IV's at usable levels (Volume at 3-5),
but it IS brighter than the IV, so you have to tweak it more,
and in general fewer number of presets can be used on it...
Utility menu is quite logical, especially after downloading 2.1 firmware.
2.1 also helps the 4x12V model and the Supersonic, as described.
USB recording goes flawlessly with the Fender ASIO driver,
though I had to download freeware sound editors, since Fender softwares
didn't accept the given serials (I am from IT business - I did it right..)
Sound. I am from the all-valve territory,
I used to use Marshall DSL, TSL amps before modeling.
After having my 2nd Mustang amp I can say,
that these combos are definitely NOT replace a tube-amp,
but they definitely CAN act like a full-purpose amp in a band
in real situations without compromising your sound quality in practice!

2) Presets.

My 2 cents... More bass, less treble, less gain, and 1x12 models!
Interesting the SAG settings is not as effective as on IV V.1,
but the BIAS remains useful, although it has more "power" somehow.

After a LOT of tweaking, my 4 presets I use are below...

First they sound dull, but at a real-life volume level (3-4) they are OK.
They feel like my TSL amp, especially in clean.
I use both SC and HB pickups, in general SCs sound clearer on Mustangs,
HBs can work too, but you have to set less gain to avoid unacceptable
"breaking" of the amp model.

(for all presets)
Amp model is 65DLX or Bassman. Sounds similar, Bassman can be cranked more..
Cab model is 65DLX or SS112. SS112 has more bottom end.
Gain 3, Volume 7, Treble 5, Mid 5, Bass 7-8.
SAG in the middle, BIAS at max.
Noise gate is MID or HIGH.

(Clean, funky stuff :)
Gain 3, Volume 7, no stompbox

(Cranked, "tube-like")
Gain 6-7, Volume 6, no stompbox. Don't set Gain above 8.. Won't work..

(Crunch, using this one mostly)
Clean or Cranked + Orange box: Level 5, Gain 1(!), Tone 4.5
The Tone is important, you can "set" it to much the original amp's tone.
I don't want the box to color the sound, just to add distorsion.
Quite good preset, turning my guitar volume down a bit
makes it sound like a cranked amp.
(I have treble bleed circuit which is HIGHLY advised...

(Lead, heavy riffs)
Clean or Cranked + Orange box: Level 4-5, Gain 6, Tone 4.5

Of course you have to fine-tune the sound levels
conditionally on that you use these presets as boost or not.

I would happily accept other settings which are trying to
approach tube amps, and usable gig-presets..

I am sure there are plenty of people that would be willing to help you out. What kind of sounds are you trying to get.Country,Rock,Metal? I also think It would be Great If the Fender folks could post some king of thread(spread sheet)for people to type in there settings.Posts for differant genres of music would be Great.I know a lot of the time everyone does`nt always want to use fuse & download all the differant downloads. It would be nice to have that separate option for people that want to share settings on the fly.

If you don't mind me asking bjoc, as you've owned both the IV and currently have the III - would you say that both of them work in a home/bedroom environment on lower volume levers?

In general, yes. Volume 1-2 great for practicing. Leaving 3 the volume raises radically. 4-5 is a small gig level. The "color" of sound it gives does not change raising the volume, but the speaker won't do the same job at Vol 2 and at 5. Remember it's a 100W speaker, it is not designed for very low volume. These are true for both amps. If you use them mainly for practicing you should set the presets volume for 4-5 to be make the master volume usable. It's interesting to sound won't change significally if you use Vol 10 Master 3, or Vol 3 Master 6.. so maybe these are "digital" sound controllers and the physical volume is derived from both of them - maybe I am wrong...

Köszi! :)
Sound reassuring as I'm waiting for the IV V.2 to be released in Sweden. As soon as it does I'm going to compare it to the III side by side.

I have the Mustang IV(first version. To me it is worth the extra money.I live in an apartment complex & can`t play it very loud. But I am able to play it & it sounds good at low volumes. Also the Extra speaker is nice.I also use it to gig with & it just sounds fuller to me then a Single speaker amp.Certain effects sound bettor to me also to me.Such as time based effects & ping pong delay goes fromleft to right.I love the Mustang IV.

I think it's worth waiting for the V.2s.

The Greenbox and Orangebox pedals are fantastic!
The Greenbox with very low gain, setting the vol/tone
to the match amp model gives a very usable and tube-like Ibanez TS sound!
Orangebox gives a harder, very unique distorsion sound.
These pedals sound best with low gain amp models (gain at 3)

You cant' set these sounds on a V.1..
