I have a couple of Questions about the firmware for the Mustang 4. I am kind of an old school guy & have not really used my (mustang) amp with my computer at all.I know this will sound silly to some. One reason Is I think I can pretty much do everything I need to do without fuse. But maybe I am wrong. The amp is about a year & a half old?
So here are my few Questions.

1.If I decide to update the firmware Can I just do the latest one?
2.Am I right In assuming I can pretty much do everything on my amp?Or amp I missing out on a lot of features with fuse?I have seen a few videos & from what I have seen I can get these options from the buttons on the amp.
3.Lastly,conserning the firmware does anyone know what the firmware involves that I have not updated? Is it for things that are mostly not working properly for some Or are there any upgrades with the updates?
Thanks In advance

1. Yes you can install just the latest firmware. It's version 1.10 for your amp; the v2.x firmware is for the new amps.

2. You can do most things on the amp. There are a few controls only available in FUSE, such as the 'bright' switch on some amps, but not many. Perhaps the most important thing you can do in FUSE but not in the amp is change the order of the effects in the signal chain - although the default order you can set on the amp is probably the most common/useful for many purposes.

3. The firmware includes fixes and a few new features, although those were mostly to add missing capabilities to the Mustang 1 and 2 amps (eg adding a mid-range EQ control). Fender did post somewhere lists of what was in each firmware version as they were released, I don't have links handy, sorry.

I think if your amp is doing everything you want, then there's no great need to update the firmware, you aren't missing out on any major enhancements. On the other hand, it does no harm to install the latest firmware version, and it may add something you find useful.

Finally, for completeness although you don't ask this explicitly: 2.6.1.45 seems to be the current recommended FUSE version, for a "V1" amp such as yours. The 2.7 FUSE versions are mainly for the new "V2" amps, and 2.7 still has some problems so might be best avoided in the short term. Here's the details of 2.6.1.45, including download links:

That version of FUSE should include the 1.10 firmware. But if you want to download the firmware separately, it's here:

Look for the list of download files at the bottom of the page, select "Fender® Mustang™ III-V Firmware Download (1.10)"
