I was wondering what the 5 new amp models and 5 new effects are on the mustang V2 and what they model. I also heard the existing amp models sound better and more (tube like). I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to upgrade to the V2 or get another guitar next month on my birthday

The new amps are:

- Fender Thrift: Fender Silvertone
- Fender Twin '57 (used by Red Hot Chili Peppers A LOT)
- British Watts: Hi-Watt
- British Colour: Some orange-amp, hi-gain, thick bottom, for modern rock or metal
- Studio Preamp (for acoustic guitar, bass and if you wanna plug-in an external preamp)
(it can also be used as some new amps with the new distortion-pedals).

New pedals:

- Wah, Pitch-shifter and an optional "wah-pedal" that can be used with them
- Bigg Fuzz pedal:

- Green Screamer: Ibanez/Maxon 808 (overdrive)
- Orange box: Boss DS-1
- Black box: Proco-Rat (for rock/grunge/metal and such)

The new distortion/fuzz/overdrive-pedals are an important addition, that was a weak side of the v1.

Yes, the models are improved, the new metal-ones sounds more like "scratching with the devils-claws", less muddy. The clean ones are more tube-ish (my opinion).

And yes, the famous FIZZ-problem is gone forever.

From what I understand, the British Watts is a Hi Watt amplifier model, not a Marshall. It's definitely my favorite of the five.

I've seriously thought of upgrading to a V2, myself. They really do sound great, and as the poster above me said, the extra dirt pedal options are a needed improvement. I thought the green box was a Tube Screamer, but whatever it is, I LIKE it, I like it!!

I would say that for me the highlights of the v2 are:

-Hiwatt amp emulation
-Pro-co rat pedal
-Bigg Muff pedal
-Ranger booster

Also worth mentioning is that now the old deluxe, bassman and twin models sound much better. the cab emulations too have evolved, they sound less like EQ settings and more like speakers with different dynamics one from the other.

I can't speak of totally distorted metal presets as a specialité, not my thing, but working at the edge of tube breakup is more demanding, and overall I don't find V2 adds anything to kill for.

I have an M I V1 and a M II V2, and tend to use a common subset when programming them, for convenience. Not a lot missing, it seems like minor variations with the exception of the smart pitch shifter, and the no-modeling pre-amp. Most everything I need to do I can do on either. The V2 Ranger Booster stomp for instance works much the same as the Overdrive stomp, both pre and post. The most salient difference I've run into is that pitch shifting on the V1 only goes to about 50% mix of the shifted signal, and on the V2 you can go to 100%. A difference for sure, but not exactly earth-shattering.

As to the V2 models sounding deeper or better or whatever, at first I heard all sorts of differences, but when I really set the two amps up the same, at the same distance to my ears, and at the same angle (and this is critical), the thing that stood out was how much alike they sounded, even with the difference in speaker size. Relying on recollections and saying "it sounds so much better" doesn't quite cut it. I can't swear there are NO differences, but if there are, when you really do an A/B, people who own both and have done it carefully agree that they're quite subtle.

Things that would have been useful, like being able to use two different gain stomps at the same time, were not added. On the M III and up it looks like the effects loop under V1 is way more friendly to loopers and such, though the latest beta is trying to remedy that with an option to place the effects loop as before. Don't know how effectively.

If you like your V1, and changing will cost significant money, or say postpone a guitar purchase, make sure you have very specific good reasons to switch to V2.

Yes, i agree!
by the way.. Hiwatt seems to have been considered a better, improved amp designed to overcome some limitations of vintage Marshall at that time..

These new distorsions are very pleasant too .. and i would add to the list also the Boss DS-1 , the orange box.. this standard distorsion can be useful to expand the timbre palette in the amplifier further.. it is an half way from an overdrive and a fuzz..

Excellent. Thanks. I had to use Google to search up the new models and new effects as the Fender "search" function doesn't include 'new' or 'v.2' but Google brought me here no problem :) The V.2 sounds superb!

I know this is an older thread but just wondering if the new pitch shifter can do an Octave above with fuzz.. Anyone tried, if so, does it sound accurate enough :) thnx again.
