Hi there,
This is my first guitar amp and I have a few silly questions that I need clarification.
I may be out to lunch here but just thought I try this new hobby. I have the Mustang 1 amp and signed up for Fender community and also downloaded the FUSE software.

Here are my questions:
1. My understanding is that I could download Band tracks onto my laptop and into the amplifier.

2. These band tracks become loopers, I assume this is background music that will play while I play my guitar, is this correct?

3. If yes how do I get the band track to play from the amp. I could only play it from the laptop. Or there is no way to play it from the amp? I think I need some step by step instruction unless my assumption is incorrect?

4. As for the presets, I assume that I can download into the amp clicking on the amp option use it on the guitar. How do I do that?

5. The Band track that I download shows 5 minutes but when I play it on the laptop it only plays for 3 minutes?

6. The FUSE interface on the video tutorial shows selection button with Authors but my actual downloaded FUSE interface do not have an option to sort by Authors?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regarding your first three questions: no, there's no special way to play the band tracks through the amp. In particular, the USB connection only sends audio from the amp to the PC, you can't send audio from the PC to the amp that way. Neither can you store the backing tracks on the amp and have the amp play them itself.

One thing you could do is connect the 'line out' or 'headphone' socket on your PC to the 'aux' socket on your amp. Then the sound output from your PC would be played through the amp. But this is just an ordinary audio connection - you can connect any audio source to the aux socket. The amp has no knowledge of the backing tracks.

As for presets: yes you can download these and save them to your amp, using FUSE. How to do this is covered in the FUSE manual, and also (because the FUSE manual isn't very detailed) in many topics in this forum.

Hi YoungAtHeart,

We will be happy to assist. Please see my answers below and let us know if we can assist further.

Here are my questions:
1. My understanding is that I could download Band tracks onto my laptop and into the amplifier.

You can download Band Tracks through our Fender FUSE Community, that you can play back through your computer. In order for you to playback Band Tracks (or any other audio files), you will need to connect an Auxiliary cable from your computer to your amp.

2. These band tracks become loopers, I assume this is background music that will play while I play my guitar, is this correct?

Yes, there is a repeat function in the Fender FUSE software that you can use to loop a Band Track while jamming along to it.

3. If yes how do I get the band track to play from the amp. I could only play it from the laptop. Or there is no way to play it from the amp? I think I need some step by step instruction unless my assumption is incorrect?

The Mustang products are not designed to contain any Band Tracks, only Presets.

4. As for the presets, I assume that I can download into the amp clicking on the amp option use it on the guitar. How do I do that?

You can save Presets to your amp using the Fender FUSE software. The Presets can be saved using the Save button on your amp, or directly from the Fender FUSE software.

5. The Band track that I download shows 5 minutes but when I play it on the laptop it only plays for 3 minutes?

This seems a bit odd. Please let us know the specific Band Track and we can take a look at it on our end.

6. The FUSE interface on the video tutorial shows selection button with Authors but my actual downloaded FUSE interface do not have an option to sort by Authors?

This is correct. I would recommend you try using the Community button as well to get better search results.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Or you can find a recently discontinued Fender G-DEC which does have a looper and can have band tracks downloaded to the amp.

Fender really screwed the pooch abandoning the G-DEC 3 to prop up the Mustang amps!
