It sure won't work for all who need it, but if it works for a handfull of users reading this forum it's worth the writing.
While the latest Fuse 2.7 runs fine on my laptop, it still refuses to work on my netbook (an Acer Aspire with 64bit Windows 7) that I usually carry with me to the rehearsals. As soon as the Amp is switched on or connected, Fuse stucks in the syncing-screen with blushed background.

Now by accident I found a way of getting it started:
I launch Fuse and wait a little bit after the screen is built up. Then I switch on the Advanced controls and resize the window. No joke! Maybe other GUI-manipulating actions will work too. Then I wait another few seconds and then I switch on the amp.

Until now it worked every time! And without the window-manipulating ritual at start I run again into the syncing-error.

Don't ask me why (the software needs some attention by the user, some pet-pet? ;) ... but it works.

FUSE won't run properly below a specific screen resolution (1024x768) which is probably why you're having trouble with your netbook, but not the laptop.

If this is working for you, it's a workaround (at least with your specific netbook), which is cool! G/J!

The Acer netbook has 1366x768, more than the laptop, so screen resolution sure isn't the point.

Hi Guys,

I am wondering if connectivity to the amp is more the issue with this specific Netbook. Frente, you are saying that you connect (or power on) the amp after you adjust the screen etc. What if you simply launch Fender® FUSE™ without the amp connected, allow it to fully launch, then connect the amp. Perhaps you can check that out when you have time? Thanks.

Beat Regards,

Alan

@Strings: It's quite a big netbook - and I wear glasses anyway ;-) I need a nearly full size keyboard for my work, so ...

@Alan: Without the "ritual" Fuse simply stucks with a blushed screen and the syncing dialog above syncing for ever. Even if I wait half an hour between starting Fuse and switching on the amp.
If I wait just a minute but give a little "petting" to the GUI before I connect to the amp, the syncing runs fine. I know that sounds strange, but that's the way it is.
What may be behind this strange phenomena is, that the "sleeping" Fuse is missing some USB signal or not processing quick enough.

that's weird. :? Personally I would reinstall FUSE and Silverlight and see if that helps, but you might want to wait for the official answer.

Hi Frente,

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback. i definitely hear what you are saying. I also want to clarify. So, you are saying that if you launch the Fender® FUSE™ software first, then connect your amp, things are working correctly. Is that right? Please let us know when you have a moment. Thanks very much.

Best Regards,

No, not right, then I run in the syncing error. Only if do s.th. in the Fuse Application (turning knobs / resizing window) before connecting to the amp, then I got them synced and Fuse not crashing. Thats weired, yes.
If on the other hand I launch Fuse with an already running amp, I get the error everytime without exception and workaround. But don't care, I'm happy to have found a way of using my netbook again for Fuse! V. 2.6xx version was much worse because it didn't work neither on the laptop nor on the netbook, only on an old XP Tower which was impossible to carry arround ;)

@ Strings: of course reinstalling was the first I did, but it didn't change anything.

Ok thanks, although IMO, the "of course" part of that only belongs with Fuse itself. Some people don't know Fuse relies heavily on Silverlight unless they are told. Best of luck to you.

Hi Frente,

Thanks again for your additional information. It sounds like you have a Version 2.6.x working on your Netbook at this point. I will pass along your information to lead software Dev. for further examination.

Best Regards,

No, Alan, it's sure not a 2.6 Version, it is 2.7!

Not only the About-Dialog tells me it is 2.7. Running "dry" (without amp) I can see the new models and effects if I load a V2 Preset. I guess that would not be possible with 2.6 Fuse ...
I am just downloading the new 2.7.0.30 Beta, I will tell you if it brings any change.

After two days I can say the latest Beta 2.7.0.30 got Fuse working on my netbook in a usual way. I can even unpluck the USB from one Amp into another. Until now I have no syncing problems. And this on the easy way - just installing the Beta without manual deinstallation of the older version and / or Silverlight.
I hope it stays like this, an unknown convenience for me to have a working Fuse on my Netbook during the next rehearsal!
