Hi all, first post here.

I just got a new Mustang Floor for use primarily as a multi-effects pedal. I will be playing it through a Bugera V22 tube amp and I'm looking for some feedback on best practices for use in this manner. I have the outputs set to combo amp, but I'm wondering about some other configuration questions. I'll try to give some scenarios below and would love if someone could give me some ideas about them.

Scenario 1: Mustang Floor through V22 effects return using both modeling and effects features. This should just use the power stage of my amp. The problem is, I then can't control volume at all via the amp (which is weird, I thought master volume should still work?) What situations is this configuration best for?

Scenario 2: Mustang Floor through V22 guitar input (clean channel) with EQ knobs all set to 12:00 using both modeling and effects features. In this scenario, how should the levels best be set: MF level knob, V22 channel volume, V22 master volume? For example is it best to set the MF level very low and then use the V22 volume controls entirely? Obviously want to keep the preamp from overdrive levels, but what is best way to achieve this?

Scenario 3: Mustang Floor through V22 guitar input (clean channel) with EQ handled by the V22. Only using effects features of the MF (studio preamp setting.) Again, how should the levels be set on MF and amp?

I think I would prefer either scenario 2 or 3 in order to use the volume controls on my amp, but I'm not sure that's the best way to do things. I really love the sound of my V22 with standard pedals in front of it, but I love the ease and flexibility of the Mustang Floor. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

Well, I thought I'd reply to my own post with some follow-up in case anyone else is wondering about the configuration.

What I found was that I definitely prefer using the MF in front of my amp and using the Amp Bypass mode (essentially just using the Floor as a multi-effects pedal.) While it was cool trying out the amp models while plugged into the effects return, it really made the amp sound a lot more digital (which makes sense.)

I really love the sound of the Bugera, and I basically got the pedal more for it's multi-effects capability than any modeling capability so I'm fine with using it this way.

it's been a while, but let's try to get some answer here :)

So how are you satisfied with that Bugera - MF combination?

Is it possible to get "fenderish" sound that way..or, do you recommend FM for Bugera v22?

I'm looking for this kind of sound, but Bugera seems to warm and dark..and whatewer I try, it is not that sound, so I hoped to hear that FM can help..

I've been struggling with this issue myself. I've had a MF for a few weeks, playing through a Fender Blues Junior or a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (for gigs). I don't really want to lose the characteristics of those amps, I bought the MF as a replacement for my many effects pedals.

I tend to use the studio preamp, it has a bypass button and by using this I can get pretty much the 'pure' BJ or HRD sound. I can then add effects to this as required, overdrive, reverb, delay etc. I put the MF directly into the amp preamp input and tweak the tone controls a little around the mid position. I sometimes use the MODE fx select option to switch effects in and out especially at gigs.

It would be good to know what the OP is doing now after several months with the MF.

I'm still using it basically as a multi-effects unit in front of my Bugera V22 (clean channel only.) I'm in a band that does a very eclectic mix of covers as well as originals, so I require a wide variety of effects options, but I love the clean tube sound of the Bugera.

I primarily use the studio pre-amp setting or turn amp modeling off entirely. The only situations where I use amp modeling is when i need more distortion than I can get with the one overdrive or fuzz you get to select from. I REALLY wish you could stack more than one of each type of pedal with the MF. It's an annoying limitatation since I like funk and use compression a lot of the time. I might start to experiment with using the dirt channel on the bugera or a pedal in front of the MF.
