I set up the MS4/ULT4 on the third option where by each button controls an individual "stomp box" and use the MS2 as the channel selector.

Normally I set channel 1 as "Twin" clean, then 2 as Deluxe with crunch. 3 as "Solo" using more drive. 4 as Harmoniser. Then I set up the "stomp, mod and delays" but have them switched off by default. This gives me the best and fastest way of selecting patches covering just about everything I need from country to rock.

:)

Thanx proguitar... I haven't used the harmoniser yet but I like the way you set it up. The possibilities seem endless.

Hi,
by the way.. as you're talking about MS4 and ULT4..
i saw in the market there are 2 very similar 4 bottons footswitch Fender pedal..
one should be the right model that can drives all the modes/functions of a Mustang 3 v.1 but i guess also V.2.. and you can recognize it because its 4th botton labeled "delay"..
the second model could be the same at a first glance but has the 4th botton labeled "overdub".. but i don't have any idea about other possible differences.

In a few days i should get (i hope) a Mustang 3 V.2 and i asked the guitar shop to get also a 4 bottons footswitch .. i pointed out the visible difference between this two models available because i don't know if both are fully compatible with M3.. it would be a further loss of time if they order a wrong footswitch.

In your experience, what is the real differences between these items? (if there are any)

thanks a lot

If memory serves, the ULT is the G-DEC 3 footswitch.

When I first bought my MIII, GC inadvertently ordered the ULT footswitch; I eventually made them change it for the real MS4 because it was (then) cheaper, even though the ULT appeared to control the Mustang's functions just fine (except the labels on the bottom row were not right).

However, after the expression pedal was released, I recall seeing posts that the expression pedal in fact *only* works with the correct MS4 footswitch.

So, I'd try to make sure I got the right one if I thought I might ever want to use the expression pedal in future.

Hi PITA,
thanks for these informations.. very userful.
do you know if a common Expression Pedal (for example a Roland ) could be used with Mustang 3 ? or i would need the Fender model ?

Many thanks

The MS-4 and ULT-4 are the same footswitch but the MS-4 is labeled correctly for Mustang use while the ULT-4 is labeled correctly for G-DEC use (thus it has labeling for controlling the looper, which a Mustang amp does not have.)

Either will work on either but you have to ignore the labeling on Mode 3 if you are using the footswitch to one with the other amp.

Unfortunately they aren't quite the same; only the genuine MS-4 fully works with the Mustang amps, in particular in conjunction with the EXP-1 pedal. They are indeed almost the same, and most things work the same with both, just not everything.

To add to the part numbers that 'strings' posted above, here's the full list of footswitch part numbers that I posted some time ago:

Mustang 3/4/5 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000
Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000
Mustang 1/2 One-Button Footswitch: 0994049000
G-DEC ULT-4 Footswitch: 0994070000
