I have owned a Mustang III for almost a year (V.1, obviously). This amp has given me zero trouble and I have searched for the "fizz" in vain. Considering the enjoyment I have gotten from it and its problem-free operation, I am thinking about buying a Mustang Floor at what amounts to these current fire sale prices because Fender will definitely stop manufacturing this model or run out of current inventory.

What I would like to know is whether or not current Floor users have been dissatisfied with the performance of this unit in any way--not talking about its features, etc. Do you regret anything about your decision to purchase a Mustang Floor? Other than the fact that the thing has dropped so much in price in the past six months, of course :D !

I own a M3 and a floor that I aquired a couple months ago. Best purchase of the last year :)

...and is less expensive than many single-trick pedals, a no brainer IMO

The only thing that I expect eventyually to break is the flimsy cable from the power pack to the mustang unit, but would be an easy fix if you know how to use a soldering iron.

I agree with jedi2b, i love mine but i'm not impressed with the power supply im currently looking for a backup for the inevitable failure. The effects are awesome though, very versatile.

Thx for the feedback, guys. I've heard about the flimsy power supply cable, but it doesn't seem to be a deal-breaker, at least not for me.

BTW, Jedi, I'm a big fan of your posts; appreciate the knowledge you share with Fender-philes, and the effort you put into building presets!

Just out of interest, Jedi, given your positive experience, what is your method of connecting M floor to M amp? I am contemplating likewise, however own a M2 and wonder if there is any sig impact to tonal quality of the original from amp compared to being restricted to going through aux or using empty present, when running floor to m amp (if that makes sense).

there are several possible setups, all work very well depending on what you want to achieve:

-use the MF as emulation unit and the M3 as a power amp only:
The best is to go from an unbalanced output form the MF to the FX-return of the M3, totally transparent. You may adjust the MF unbalanced output EQ to "combo mode" and play with treble and bass of the MF output EQ to your liking to adapt to the M3 speaker.

-Use the MF for effects and the M3 for amp emulation (and added effects)
connect the MF unbalanced output to the instrument input on the M3, make sure your MF preset has the "studio preamp" with not much gain on it, lower the MF level knob to around 30%

-Use the MF for one guitar and the M3 for another guitar, both coming out the M3 speaker
simply connect the MF unbalanced output to the aux-in on the mustang, adjust MF output level so both guitars sound at the same level

And the craziest possibility:

-Use the MF and the M3 to have two parallel signal paths for a single guitar, with two different amp emulations and two chains of effects in parallel, both coming out of the M3 speaker
This is like having two parallel rigs (as you can do in Amplitube, for example)
Connect the MF fx-send to the M3 instrument input, connect the MF unbalanced output to the M3 aux-return and adjust the MF level. Configure two complementary presets on the MF and M3. You can do some pretty great stuff with this setup!

I've got the floor and I use it with the external expression pedal AND the 4 buttom switch to choose three presets. It all works great! The sound quality is not as good as my GR55 amp models, but then nothing else is.

Hi techno,

appart from the obvious differences I see with the Roland unit (price wise) which one do you think sounds better for basic and clean amp emulations like bassman or deluxe without any added effects?

Bought my Floor in January and zero regrets! I am running it through the effects return of a Peavey Delta Blues 210 tube combo and WOW!

No regrets. My Mustang Floor replaces some much more expensive rack units from Line 6 and BOSS, that all required separate floor controllers. Greatly simplified my set-up and sounds better than all of them. Best Fender amp models ever, and best spring reverb model. I play in a church band and send a direct signal from the Mustang Floor to the soundboard via the XLR outs. Very convenient. I've also sent the 1/4" outs to my Tech 21 Power Engine when I need to run my own speaker cabinet. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it an 11.

THe last week of January I did a studio sesion with a MF.

'70s Rock. The other guitar player was a tube snob.

After the tracks were laid, the band leader told the tube snob using a '70s 50W Marshall Plexi head and a 1959 cab: "Your sound isn't happening."

Bandleader to me: "Can he use your device, please?"

"Sure!" I said. At that point the tube snob gave me a look that could kiil a whole army.

To make a long story short, after he laid his tracks, using FUSE to tweak his sounds as we went along, the bandleader was happy and even he was happy with the outcome.

He even asked me if he bought one of those if I could program it for him. "No problem, you can have the presets contained in mine".

He's still a tube snob. But he now OWNS a MF and he even use it when his tube snob friends are not looking!

HTH,

Here's a drawback: The EXP-1 expression pedal still cost $90! Half the price of the MF itself! I wish they would cut the price on it as well... I would love to have the second pedal.

Some printers use proprietary cables. I looked at the USB connection at a web site and it looks to be the common larger type of USB plug that is used on many printers.

It is the same type of cable for my Lexicon interface and my friends Yamaha recorder. Since the types on the Mustang are the common smaller types, the common larger type below should work. Some are inverse orientation with insertion.

This one on Amazon is the type I am referring to.
