The Mustang III V2 has stereo XLR outputs. I'm curious as to why they are stereo given that the III (unlike the IV and V) has only one channel (speaker?). Is it actually useful, i.e perhaps there are stereo effects on board that would make use of this? Or is is just simplicity of design (just put the same jacks on all the versions)?

That being said, I'm not really interested in stereo out and since my band has only an 8 channel mixer I really don't want to "waste" an extra channel on stereo output for my amp.

I would like to know if I can just run a single cable from one of the channels with no loss of signal or if I need to use a 'Y' connector to tie them together? And if I need a 'Y' connector will there be loss of signal or issues with stereo to mono summing as detailed in the following link below:

http://www.rane.com/note109.html

i.e. do I need a "special" connector with summing circuitry or just one that combines the signal wires?

Thanks!

Hi Scary,

all the Mustang 1-5 have stereo processing and some of the effects are actually stereo. You always got stereo output on the phones out for example. In the case of the XLR outs, I do not own a V2 amp but I do have a Mustang Floor with stereo outputs, and in that case there's a a "UTIL" menu option that permits to configure both XLR-outs as mono or stereo, I do not know if you have a similar option on the V2.

Thanks for the tip jedi, but it doesn't look like the amps have that feature. I checked in FUSE and also on the Utils on the amp itself.
