Hi,

Recently people started to receive the new amps and there are some reports of upgraded or modified features in this version, in order to help (and tease!) existing V1 customer to jump to V2, could you please provide a list of the improvements made from V1 to V2 other than the new models and effects?

Some people claim the emulations got improved. Somebody from Fender told me in another thread that cab emulations got improved, and the fx-loop seems to be different now. Could you please provide some details so we do not need to go through the painstakingly process of discovering it ourselves?

Thanks in advance!

+ 1.

This request actually makes a lot of sense.

Jedi2b, thanks for posting this AND for the effort of all the presets you've made for the FUSE community.

Yours very truly,

Fender has never done the right thing and come in here with helpful listings of new features and product qualities. You'll be much better off to just call them up and talk to a CSR. For some reason the CSRs are much freer to share that sort of info on the phone. The Fender Shylocks must have clamped down on the forum moderators in terms of content for legal reasons. About all they ever say in here is, "Thank you for sharing your problem. Contact an authorized Fender service center to resolve any issues."

The CSR I talked to went offline for about 3 minutes and apparently called the tech staff, then answered some of my questions. They are surprisingly open on the phone, but on the other hand, they can't answer any but the most basic questions.

I'm asking for nothing more that the release notes for V2... They can avoid any mention about the fizz, I we already know about the new amp models and effects, but I would like to know about the REST of the improvements, otherwise should we think there were no other improvements?

If they are not at freedom of sharing RELEASE NOTES!.. I give up man.

thanks, I'm looking for actually what is NOT part of that list. Here are some examples of comments I have found on these lists but that would require confirmation/details by Fender:

-There have been comments about improved amp models (I'm talking about the ones that were already present on V1 amps)
-Apparently also, there have been some reworking on the cab models
-The fx-loop seems to have been changed (the insertion point of the fx-loop)
-apparently too, the cabinet emulation you get on the xlr outs is different from the one you get on the speaker or phones output, ad this emulation change is dynamic in the sense tha it will vary from one cabinet model to the next

I'm pretty sure they are probably other features that were added or modified, and frankly I do not see why Fender would not be able to comment about the great new thing on the new amp model.

I may be wrong but it sounds like Fender wants keep the surprise or reward of new hidden features and improvements just for old version owners that will trust Fender totally, buying (or at least giving a try to) the new v.2 without having great expectations.
Consequently those additional improvements/features remain officially unknown even for new customers.

Hi,
in fender support section under "Updating firmware on Mustang I-V V.2 Amplifiers" i have just find some interesting informations on my opinion that will clarify some doubts about the possibility by firmware updates to get, not only new features and improvements, but also new amps and new effects as soon as (if) Fender will make them available in the future.
As we can see the new models and effects and also higher resolution cabs emulations on recording/headphone come thanks to new firmware 2.0. It is not right what someone stated in another topic about the impossibility to upgrade the amplifier with a simple firmware update.. and this is the proof.

The real unknown factor is about the quantity of memory and processing power in new amplifiers and those factors are the physical limits to expand the possibilities of these new amplifiers. .. if there are enough of those hardware capabilities we can expect even further amps/cabs and effects in the future updates.. it would depends on Fender firmware updates.

Mustang I-V (V.2)

Fender Mustang firmware version 2.0 is the current version of Mustang firmware.

The features in this firmware include:

• New Amp Models

1. “Fender ’57 Twin”
2. “British Watts”
3. “British Colour”
4. “‘60s Thrift”
5. “Stereo Preamp” – from the Mustang Floor: linear, flat eq

• Effects

1. Diatonic Pitch Shifter – new pitch effect providing diatonic harmonizing capability
2. Improved Chromatic Pitch Shifter (stays in tune better, less warble)
3. “Greenbox” -
4. “Orangebox”
5. “Blackbox”
6. “Big Fuzz”
7. “Ranger”
8. From the Mustang Floor: Touch and Pedal Wahs are available in both Stomp and Mod categories.

• Enhanced Headphone/Recording Speaker Cabinet Simulations (“higher definition”, same as with the Fender Mustang Floor)

• New EXP-1 Control Screen (press and hold the encoder to access EXP-1 configuration menu)

• New 2-Button Footswitch Modes – Mod/Tap, Dly/Tap, Rvb/Tap, Mod/Dly, Mod/Rvb, Dly/Rvb

• New 4-Button Footswitch Modes – Normal, Mode1 Lock, Mode2 Lock, Mode3 Lock

Because all changes and improvements are in the realm of the subjective. Audio makers have relied on this for decades to sell stuff that may or may not be any real improvement over what they were selling last week.

You go listen to it, and decide whether you like what they've done, or not.

I remember when I got my Digitech RP250 with "Audio DNA" I assumed it was going to be way better than my 5 year old cheapshot RP100. It was worse. The models LESS convincing. The tones buzzier and more digi-sounding. Same with the Korg Pandora PX5D, much worse than the 4 series.

Caveat emptor.

Yes of course, i'm thinking that Fender is making us play a little treasure hunt because the informations are there on the website but are scattered in many different places.
Anyway i like to be a detective and maybe be helpful

Yeah, it seems pretty obvious that at least some of the new amp models and FX can be delivered to the v1 amps via a firmware update. It may not be able to deliver the improved fidelity or all of the features of the v2 amps but... something.

I for one, however, am not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. Fender has nothing to gain from it other than customer appreciation. Why should they give us something for nothing and at the same time risk some v2 sales?

I seriously doubt that there are going to be any more v1 firmware updates at all. After all, it makes no business sense to continue to pour money into a product that has past it's prime. FUSE should still support both versions in the future and I think that is all that can be expected.

In light of that, I think Fender has a lot of nerve petitioning for customer testimonials (especially) and next gen features - in other words, something for nothing from it's customers.

On the other hand, the Mustang v1 series did deliver on the features as advertised. And, they did continue to improve those features through firmware and also improved FUSE over the last two years. Being a MII owner, I have no complaints. But I was watching when a lot of PO'd MIII-V owners were shown the "talk to the hand".

The Mustang v1 series are still a very good product and I'm not sorry I bought mine. But, they won't get something for nothing from me because I know they're not going to reciprocate. That's just business, nothing personal.

Do you mean the 'Fender Would Like Your Feedback' thread? Wasn't that in the Fuse section of the forum and aimed at improving Fuse?

What I was referring to was the "Please read: Ratings & Reviews Invitation!" thread:

http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=83616

It is not specifically aimed at the Mustang series, but instead, all Fender products.

EDIT: But, there have also been other threads that have now been deleted.
