I just got a used MustangIII. I updated the firmware, but now think I want to do a factory restore. Will that undo my firmware update, so that I need to redo it?

thanks

yes. and anything else you've changed, it will go back to just the way it was before it left the 'factory'. Why do you want to do the factory restore? Are you having an issue?

I have just acquired this amp, and have done nothing except upgrade the Firmware. I just want to make sure all the presets, have not been modified by former owner.

These are the only instructions I am aware of:

To restore the Mustang amplifier to factory settings:
1. Turn the amplifier OFF.
2. Press and hold the EXIT button while turning the amplifier ON. Continue holding the EXIT button until it is no longer illuminated.

The FACTORY RESTORE function will erase all user modified presets. It will also restore the AMBER bank of presets and any effect selections that have been modified using Fender FUSE software.

what happens when you try? Does it just start like normal? Try pressing all the buttons on top a few times in case they are stuck, then try again? If it still doesn't work after that, I'd email or call Fender....

I want to say that this only restores the factory presets and does NOT effect any firmware updates. But either way its pretty simple check your firmware version and update it if needed.

Hi All,

We will be happy to assist. There seems to be some debate, in regards to what a factory restore will do to a Mustang device. A factory restore on a Mustang device, will reset the device back to its factory content, but this will not affect the installed Firmware. For example, If you at one point updated the Firmware from v.1.9 to v.1.10 on your Mustang III (V.1), and then performed a factory restore (pressing and holding the EXIT button, while powering up), this will not reverse the firmware back to v.1.9 . Please let us know if we can assist further.

What exactly did you do (don't say "I followed the instructions" - tell us what you actually did), and what exactly did you observe, that makes you think it didn't work? I'm not doubting you, but let's understand exactly what you've done, and what state your amp is now in, as that will make it easier to recommend what you should do next.
