I just recently acquired a Fender Power Chorus with two separate power amps for each speaker and both a mono effects loop and a stereo effects loop. On my old 112 amp, I plugged the left unbalanced 1/4 on the Mustang Floor into the effects loop return on the amp to bypass the preamp.

I want to try the Mustang Floor out in stereo now... how do I set it up? There are left and right unbalanced 1/4 outputs on the MF but the stereo effects loop on the amp has only one return just like the mono effects loop. Do I use a Y-style send/return input cable with the two 1/4 jacks on one side and one 1/4 jack on the other?

Also, does anything need to be set in the Utilities interface on the MF?

If it's a stereo loop, this is probably a TRS socket - ie it takes a plug that has three contacts: tip, ring and sleeve. The tip is the left channel, the ring is right and the sleeve is earth/ground.

You can buy cables that have two mono plugs (TS - tip and sleeve) at one end, and a stereo TRS plug at the other end. One of the mono plugs is connected to the left channel of the TRS plug, the other mono plug is connected to the right channel.

Assuming that the socket on your amp is a stereo socket, the above is the cable you want. You don't want to use a Y cable with mono jacks all round. But you'll need to confirm whether the socket for your stereo fx return really is a TRS socket...

Thanks Scott,

I have the dual mono to single stereo Y audio cable and it works great!
