Hi boys and girls,

Continuing my quest of trying to emulate amps not currently covered by the mustang series I decided to try something new. Seeing the high gain lovers are somewhat disillusioned about the existing mustang emulations I decided to give it a try and try to help them in their pitiful situation.

I picked two of the meanest, baddest amps I can think of and for which I was able to find reliable emulation templates to try to copy the sound and dynamics (amplitube custom shop models).

Soldano SLO-100
This one sounds a little fizzy IMO (the real amp) so I needed to tweak a fuzz sound to get closer to the sound with the amp emulations we have on the mustang already. Actually I created two presets, one with overdrive (you know your usual high gain lead sound) and another with overdrive disengaged, which I find quite useful for alternative rock or even blues.

Soldano Mean

Engl Powerball
This has to be among the meanest amps on earth. I can only use the preset with master volume 1.5 or I will get evicted. Also is the one I think I got the closest to.

Please let me know what you guys think as I'm not a high gain musician so any comments are welcomed.

PS: I have been trying to upload these for a while now but the fuse site didn't work, apparently now is okay.

Will have to try them out again as time allows. Thanks again for your "Orange" amp presets. Definitely close enough for government work. Looks like Fenders going to include an "Orange" emulation on V2.

Just tried them out. Being an old fart spending my teens in the '60s, the Metal 2000 model never appealed to me much.

The Soldano Mean and Engl Powerball didn't change my opinion about it, but the Soldano Clean did. Sounds really good and useful to my ears.

been a fellow old fart myself I share your opinion :) I was hoping to trow a rope to the younger metalheads around.

Thanks for the feedback!

I love the sound of a true ENGL Powerball. It's a truly sick (awesome) amp. So of course, I tried it on both my Mustang II and my Mustang V half-stack.

I never really did care much for the Peavey 5150 amp model (Metal 2000) because unless you turned the M5 up to ear-splitting volumes, it sounded like fizzy crap.

Your mod here, however, seems to remove a lot of that fizz and makes it sound great. I saved it to preset 02 on my stack and to A-Red on my M2 because it sounded great.

Thanks a bunch, mate.

Isn't that what the original 5150 did?? I've always heard it was a one trick pony- massive distortion at ear splitting levels.

Just to play devil's advocate here: Metal ain't supposed to be quiet! :D
