I was thinking about replacing my digitech GNX3 with the mustang floor but i am not sure if i will like the mustang floor any better? I get very good fender tones out of my GNX3 and with the tubescreamer stompbox model i get even better tones with the fender amp models in my GNX3,this setup is great for SRV and other blues type tones.

I compared the fender amp model tones that i like in my mustang V to similar fender amp models in my GNX3 and they are very close,my GNX3 has that fender vibe that sounds very close to the real fender amps with a nice warm overall tone,i also get very good fender amp tones out of my mustang V and with the bias and sag parameters i can make these amp models sound even better but i also like the hyper modeling i have in my GNX3 to blend two different models together for further tonal variations.

If anyone else has or had a GNX3 let me know if you ever compared it to your mustang amp or mustang floor and what advantages do you think the mustang may have over the GNX3?

That's what I think too. Through FUSE you might be able to use the Amplitube Fender LE models included with your purchase, and in a forseeable future, to buy and use all other models from their Custom Shop.

One can dream, isn't it..?

Well apparently Orange beat Fender to it, this is, in my opinion what the Mustang V2 should have looked like:

This thing actually runs amplitube AND a DAW on it... I do not like it to run on windows.. why didn't they pick linux instead?

1. Why would I want to use a 1/4" connection for my MP3 player, when virtually all of them are 1/8"?

2. Amp warranty is only 1 year, and the speakers only 3 months (although if you register the amp, they throw you an additional 6 months!)

Here's a doozy from the user's manual:

12.2 JACKS
Many of the jacks on your OPC are directly connected to the motherboard. It is essential that when inserting or removing cables you do so with the utmost of care: • When removing a cable connected to a back panel connector, first remove the cable from your device and then remove it from the motherboard. • When removing the cable, pull it straight out from the connector. Do not rock it side to side to prevent an electrical short inside the cable connector. • Always remove the cable by gently pulling on the barrel of the plug, never by the cable itself.

Hi Plutonius, I see this is your very first post. What is your other user name on the Fender forum?

Tiger J, I think a LOT of people are in the same boat: an aging analog setup that's too big and/or heavy for their backs. Also unnecessary. Time for something light and more up to date.

I can get enough tone and volume out of a 24 lb Mustang II v2 to forget my 100 lb '65 Twin Reverb w/ 2 x SRO/12, except for that unusual gig where there's no PA system to get mic'ed into. In fact, even the Mustang 1 will work for a lot of gigs. For a coffee house type venue where the PA is just for voice, the Mustang II is loud enough on its own.

I find the tube modeling really quite good. For use with an external pedal setup, the V2 no-modeling "stereo preamp" setting is also very useful, turning the Mustang into a pure power stage sort of like a 40 watt Frontman. For some the USB interface aspect is their first computer connection. So the Mustang combos cover a LOT of ground, and do it well.

I noticed the Mustang II increased in price from the initial offering of $149 to $199. So I bought a used Mustang II, updated the firmware, and used the fuse to remove all the store demo effects they tossed on it. Set up the Green Channel for my Epiphone Dot Deluxe and the Red channel for my MIA Stratocaster. Changed only three of the amp models on each memory bank to match close to what I have set on my stage amp, Fender Super Sonic 60 1x12.

I had to turn the volume up nearly 3/4 to cut through, but the amp sounds great with the band and at home. As for Fizz, still haven't seen anyone complain about Fizz on the I, or II models, only on the III. I love the Bassman and Tweed channels on this. The other channels, I don't like, they sound too sterile from the real deals they are modeled after. Fender nailed the Supersonic tones though. I won't use this live, I like the increased volume boost I have on the SS60. But for home and band practice use, this amp works great. Next up is an improved solid wood cabinet from the particle board cabinet.

As a previous owner of several fizzy Mustang III version 1 units, I can definitely say the the Mustang III version 2 is worth the little bit of extra money. The version 2 is everything I had hoped the v1 would be and more. I love it!

Can someone confirm - has this fizz issue only been a problem with the III?

I'm considering a MII, but if these never had any issues, I'm happy to save a stack and see if I can pick up a v1 on clearance.

The Mustang I does not have the fizz problem. The MIII and higher do. Now the Mustang III version 2 is out and that does not have the fizz issue.

So just MIII v1's were fizzed. Why only one in the whole range, surely it's got the same DSP as all the others had?

It's not a DSP problem, it's a power amp problem I think.

FYI. The Mustang I did had the fizz issue. It was INDEED a DSP issue and was fixed (or greatly attenuated) via a software update.
