I would love to start a bunch of threads regarding our (Mustang owners) modified presets for specific bands. Here's what I am thinking the replies should include:

Mustang Model
Band Name
Guitar Used (including humbuckers or SCs)
Link to Preset in Fuse Community OR
Amp Model & Effects/Pedals and what settings.

Obviously if you have it in the Community it would be ten times easier.

If you think you'd like to contribute or use this thread let me know and I'll start setting them up.

Count me in. I've been giging with the m3 for a month now. There is so much in this amp that it would be good to see what outhers come up with in some logical order. Fuse is good but you don't get a good reference to the preset downloads. So when do we start?

Let's start on Sunday.

Start all posts Titles with "Best Preset For ______________" and fill in the blank with either a band name or a band name with a song. Make sure your preset is part of the "community" and include your link. Hopefully we will get something useful going here.

Best preset for Neil Young.

Made my first ever preset today- WOO-HOO! Couldn't believe how easy it was. Musty III.

I wanted to get Neil Young's "Ramada Inn" sound.

Started with the Basic '65 Deluxe Reverb model. Cranked the gain up to appx 9.5, Volume dimed. Sounded crunchy as hell, but it lacked the truly SICK distortion Neil gets. I dropped the mids down to just over half, and it sounded better yet. I faffed around with my MXR Custom Badass pedals, but couldn't quite do it. It was either too gainy, or not enough dirt... THEN it hit me: Fuzz! I added the onboard fuzz stomp, and- Eureka! Also added the '65 spring reverb at 3.2 to open it up a bit.

Sounds damn close, but I'm not playing with a bass, ( which would fill that bottom end in nicely) or a rhythm guitar, either. If anyone tries this, and comes even closer, please post your efforts.

So here it is, in proper thread format: (I'm not using Fuse, so...)

Name: Ramada Inn
Band/song: Neil Young and Crazy Horse "Ramada Inn"
Amp Model: '65 Deluxe Reverb
Guitar used: Ibanez RG3EXFM1 ( guitar volume on full, tone 3/4 or so)
Pickup info: V7 and V8 humbuckers, using bridge p/u, and/or the inside coils of both. 5 way switch, position 1 or 2. I used the coil split position (2), as Neil's "Old Black" LP has a Gibson Firebird mini bucker in the bridge, not a standard PAF burst bucker. ( A big part of his sound!) I wanted a slightly lower output.

Settings:
Gain 9.5
Volume 10
Mids 5.5
reverb 3.5 ('65 Fender deluxe reverb)
Stomp Fuzz.

All other settings were unchanged. I did not edit either of the effects at all. (The Fuzz default settings were 5 across the board) Didn't go into the reverb at all, just adjusted the knob in the amp model.

Just for fun, I cranked the master up to about 5- just to see what a bit of power would do to it. I damn near jumped out of my chair- this amp gets REALLY, REALLY loud!!!

I also tried it with some analogue delay, via a Carbon Copy pedal in the loop. It sounded pretty good, but not what the preset needed. Likewise with a Boss Flanger in Gate mode. If you dial the speed in to work in time with the music, it sounds awesome, but again, it doesn't help keep the preset accurate. I didn't bother trying out the onboard effects for that reason.

Now I just need to find a preset I can live without, and save this there. Now that I know what I did it'll be easy enough to duplicate it.

it's a very good idea this.. Fuse preset site has gaps and overlaps and a lot that is not so good

I'm a web developer..
so would Fender allow me to set up a small site just for Fuse presets?
(I have no idea why Fender require people to log in to download presets in the first place)

- would be fairly simple to do - obligatory info text - 30 second audio clip of preset in action (chords and picked notes) - monetary donations gratefully accepted..

Hi Guys,

There are some interesting comments here. In regard to Preset details, keep in mind that the Fender® FUSE™-compatible device Presets have a Preset Info section that includes "Description", "Tags" and 3 "Genre" entries. The thing is that many people do not take the time to fill this information out.

If the information is completed, the Presets are not only more informative as is being discussed here, but they also are more effectively searchable (especially the "Tags" field). You guys may want to consider moving all the details from a Forum thread to the Preset Info of your actual Presets. Thanks.

Best Regards,
