Well in my case, im going to give it a try. I had a good feeling Fender would not ansewer this one as well. When the cord comes in Ill be more than happy to post it up here.
:D Thanks for all the imput :D

Like I stated before I did use a 20 footer for this, and it worked fine. Now if the 50 footer works im set! :P

If not Ill just return the cable and get something else.

It would be nice to try to get Fender to say something, like "20ft is the max we recommend". I'd bet 50 ft is pushing it.

Of course, nothing like cut and try. But if that's what you do, you'll have to test it in an environment like what you'll have on stage. It's not audio, it's data going back and forth (between the computer that is the amp and the computer that is the pedal box). Testing it just by plugging it together is not enough.

If on stage you'll have to route that long cable with other stuff, testing it means running that 50 ft cable right next to power lines (that might be feeding motors, lights with dimmers, power hungry stuff being turned on and off), because that's what will generate pulses that could mess up the data.

In any case running the cable through a ferrite core at both ends is probably a good idea. Like the ones they put on computer power cables to keep noise in. And as a step up I'd use a mic cable, so you have better shielding than when the shield is the data ground.

Otherwise you should be running it far from power lines. Let us know how it turns out.

OK, first of all, ladies, the foot switch cable is your basic lamp-cord-style unshielded two-conductor, in other words, a speaker cable, not a balanced or unbalanced audio cable.

You can use a "regular" guitar cable, but a 50 foot unnecessarily-shielded guitar is probably going to cost quite a bit more than a 50 foot speaker cable, so why bother?

You could go to any hardware store, buy lamp cord in any length you wish, solder on two phone plugs, and be good to go.

Well fellas... It works! I got it in the mail and ran it through band practice and here at the house...ran it with cords all around it, around outlets, and all bundled up..... It works just fine. This weekend, Ill have it up and running for a show, with a back up 20 foot (that I know works for Live Gigs) just in case.

Not only that, it was only like 30 bucks from Sweet Water for the 50 foot cord..so unstead of making one...I got one.

 :D

That's great, and good to know they've done it right.

But Evets, ladies, it's not a switch like on old reverb click pedals. There has to be a microprocessor in the pedal box, and in the amp. They have to send messages over that cable. Why? Because if you know of a way to select the commands from 4 buttons and change the stuff that shows up on the pedal's display through an on-off switch, with one conductor, I'd like to know how. So if you're sending data over that cable, you're going to have a limit on how long it can be, and how much noise it can tolerate, depending on how the circuit is designed. You can't even run 9600 baud RS232 over lamp cord very far. If you treat it as a data line, you can run it further without errors.

I’ve used the 50 foot cable for some time now both live and practice. Each time of use I made sure to run it over just about every electrical, power sucking, power pushing chord and or box on the floor, just to see if it would fail. And to my surprise it is spot on. Absolutely no problems with it.

To add the amp is working well with our live show (Mustang IV). I have it dialed in and really now only have to adjust the main volume when we are live once or twice.

The only negative things I have found are:

*When you change the channel there is a quick fizz sound from one setting to the
next. And if you’re going from a clean rythym to a clean solo...its noticeable.

*Secondly, the transition from different settings stops the sound. Meaning it’s not a
constant sound transitioning from clean to dirty...going from clean to dirty you get a
very small pause of no sound...but hey that’s me being picky....but noticeable to my
ears..

Thanks for the imput fellas...Rock on.
