A Bassman head with a 2x12C cab is another kind of clean you might really like. Not as "pushy" as the twin is. It is my alternative to the twin and I prefer it in most clean cases. Make sure the gain is not too high. Regular volume has lots of clean headroom.

It is not as harshly bright as the twin. Turning off the bright kind of kills the twins' spirit. The Bassman 2x12C combo is very warm and clean and still powerful.

I loved the sound of a Super Champ X2. Just couldn't afford it at the moment. :(

I use the '65 Deluxe with the gain turned way down and the compressor in the post position to boost the volume a bit.

I love X2, but for late at night or when people might not want to hear me I can disappear into my Musty1 and headphones and bliss away. The aux in allows you to learn, jam or whatever, whenever. I got the Musty first. I think it is the right progression unless you have some gigs to play. I played a gig with me out of my Bronco and the other guitar player using my Musty for a few songs. He was miked and it worked nicely. No drums.

The Musty is on the stage at the right hand side of the pic.

getting a clean tone on a small under powered amp is almost impossible. I would save up and buy a Mustang 3 if you play in a band.

The Princeton is good for bright cleans.

If you want clean-clean, there's an EMPTY preset on FUSE that somehow manages to remove all the modeling, so you basically are running straight through from pickup to power section to speaker. It's not too useful for performing, because what we call a "good clean amp tone" has to be full of character, but I've used it a lot when going through the USB to record the guitar truly clean and doing all the tone in the DAW, like Guitar Rig. I've gotten the best dynamic clean amp simulations out of the Princeton model, the Twin is a bit stiff and brittle, much as in real life.

Impossible?... Really?... Funny, this has never been a problem on my Mustang II or my Mustang I. The only way this would be "impossible" is if the user does not know how to use Fuse or... he/she is deaf.

If you want a good clean tone do not use your epiphone dot or any other guitar with humbuckers,(humbuckers are just too muddy for a good clean tone in my opinion),i have many guitars with both single coil and humbucker pickups and i get the best clean and blues type tones from my strat type guitars with single coil pickups,i also get good clean and blues tones from a few guitars i have with P90 pickups,a tele type guitar is also good for clean tones but is a little dark sounding in the neck pickup position.

Even if Fuse is occasionally not working  (and you are not deaf  ) it is easy:
Select the Deluxe, the Twin, the Princeton, the British 60th as modell, turn off all effects, turn down Gain to 0, Vol to 8, Bass 5, Mid 6, Treble to 7 and Master to 5 or more. After that you can add a little bit of reverb, delay, chorus etc. according to your taste.
If Fuse is occasionally working then you can have it even more clean and with more headroom with the Sag-Control switched to "less".

re: humbuckers, for cleaner sound you should adjust them so they aren't too close to the strings.

Also if you have humbuckers with 4 wire leads, you can ground the point where two leads are taped or otherwise held together. That will give you a single coil pickup. But maybe you switch gives you that option?

Interesting. Each to their own I suppose. I find the warm tone of humbuckers ideal for clean tones, and prefer their sound to single coils (at least for my own playing; there are many guitarists who make single coil guitars sound more amazing than I could ever dream of achieving).

I should have explained a little further about humbucker pickups and everyone will have a different opinion about what they consider a good clean tone and what guitars they use to achieve it. A humbucker can be good for different styles of music for example: rock or metal can sound good with a humbucker in the bridge position with some chorus and a little reverb for effect but for blues you would not get that fender twang that makes it sound so good with the mustangs fender amp models.

A humbucker can also sound good for clean tones if it is a split coil design, you can put it in the single coil position with the neck pickup for example to get a decent blues tone but it will still not sound as good as a fender or any other strat clone in the neck pickup position,i know because i tried it and have many guitars with a variety of different pickups.

I am not saying you cannot get a good clean tone from guitars with humbucker pickups but you will most likely have to do a lot of tweaking in your mustang amp to get it,i like clean and overdrive tones for the blues and i get my best tones from my strat type clones and my hofner guitar with P90 pickups in the neck position and i also do not have to do a lot of tweaking to get good clean or overdrive tones from my mustang amps,i have the mustang I and V.
