Playing around with Touch Sensitivity (see other post) I wondered which of the 50s amps the 57 Deluxe was modeled after, and came to conclusion it must be the Tweed Deluxe of some sort - most likely a 5E3.

However the 5E3's have two channels - whereas the Mustang model only has one, is this a fair guess ?

Anyway - I have seen quite a few videos on Youtube etc of original and cloned 5E3 amps, and most of these seem to have quite a lot of gain as you wind the knob up but I am finding the mustang doesn't quite give me the same - I have tele with a 9k single coil bridge so should have some "oomph".

I didn't want to mess with the Gain aspect of the overdrive stomp too much as this would prob make it harder to "clean" up re the Touch sensitivity element I was after, but just concentrated on using the level to increase the input to the amp model - but it still didn't make much difference.

Anyone else got any thoughts ? Maybe the D57 Deluxe isn't based on a 5E3 after all, and my expectation should be based on another amp ?

I'm pretty sure the Fender 57 Deluxe is based on the original 5e3 designed amp. The original amp had a instrument input and a mic input that could be blended together by adjusting the volume on the respective "channels". If you go into the advanced amp controls in Fuse there should be a blend knob. Someone can correct if I'm wrong but I believe that is to emulate the function of the original amp. (software limitations prevent Fuse from making it look exactly like the real amp) I personally have never really messed with that knob, but should be worth experimenting with.

Being a big fan of SRV and blues in general, I've been chasing a 5e3 type of tone since the day I got my MIII. After many generations of tweaking, I came up with this one....

This preset sounds great with a strat on neck pup - classic Fender tone! I set the amp gain and OD so that I get a good overdrive with my guitar volume on 10, but roll it back to 5 or 4 it and it's nice, clean, and bright. You can go from Texas Flood to Lenny just with your guitar volume!

I downloaded your Hot Deluxe preset the other day, but not had time to play with it yet - sure I have probably put something similar together at some point though, but without the Chorus - looking forward to trying that out with my strat.

I have been using my tele a lot recently, so have to be careful on the rolling off volume front with no treble bleed - its a fine line between crunch-to-clean, and crunch-to-mud....

I don't think the 57 Deluxe model has a blend setting - that's why I wasn't sure if it was a 5E3 model - it's the Bassman I think that has the blend ?

Hi Scorpaeon,

good job! I have been chasing for a similar tone for a while. gritty but clear using fender models. Never got quite close because I insisted trying with the bassman and it was too warm.

With this preset and minor extra tweaking (noise gate) now I'm satisfied playing the clapton part of this song (minus the solo!):

Looking forward to hearing what you think and what further tweaks you can do to it.

The chorus, its just something that I've stumbled upon, but in my opinion when its used subtlety it adds a little depth and clarity. Presence if you will. It works for just about any amp model.
