first: I love my Mustang V head and it really sounds awesome...no doubt about that, but: I bought a modelling amp because I want to use more than just one or two sounds when gigging. but the fact that you can only store 3 presets in you footswitch, makes it almost unusable for a live situation...I don't want to "re-program" my QA settings several times during a gig - impossible!
So here's my question: is it possible to change that via firmware/software update? That means: reordering the presets and for example: making 30 banks with 3 presets each? and adding the possibility to programm 3 QA's for every bank ( QA 1.1, 1.2,1.3, 2.1,2.2 etc) and changing the banks with the footswitch?
Thx in advance for your answer...

First explain your footswitch situation. What are you using?

And coupled with the 2-button for bank jumping you still can't access enough presets?

Sure..I can access all presets, but that is not the point. 3 different sounds for one song is ok...but if I have a second song that requires 3 different settings/patches or at least one that is different to the first song settings, I have to re-program the qa's. Espacially if I want to switch forth and back, i.e. Intro: qa1, verse: qa2, chorus: qa1, solo: qa3, chorus: qa1, etc etc.
The only way to do that seems to re-order all my used patches in the exact order they are used over the complete show ^^....and re-ordering them again if the setlist of our show changes^^
Sorry for my bad english - I hope you understand my problem. Every other amp/multifx device that I know offers the possibility to store several presets/patches in different banks..even the low-end ones...

If I understand the problem correctly: you want to have (up to) three different presets per song, and be able to jump quickly between those three presets, and also jump quickly to the group of presets for another song?

You can't do all of that with just a single footswitch press each time - indeed, you'd need a lot of foot buttons to cover every permutation! But here's a way you can get pretty close.

- Put the three presets for your first song in positions 00, 01 and 02.
- Put the three presets for your next song in positions 10, 11, 12.
- Put the three presets for your next song in positions 20, 21, 22.
- ... and so on.
- Set the 4-button footswitch to mode 2.
- You can jump between adjacent presets using the Down/Up buttons. So it's at most two button-presses to select between any of 00, 01 and 02 (or 10, 11, 12, etc).
- You can jump to the next bank of 10 with the 'Bank' button (you could think of this as selecting the next set of presets for "quick access")

There are three restrictions with this, that I can think of.

- You're limited to ten songs-worth of presets. You can get round this by using further presets within each 'bank' for consecutive songs - so you don't need to store the whole set list in order, just pairs of songs, which seems reasonably manageable. Even if you do need to 'jump around' the presets, it's still not that many button-presses to select any preset.

- You ideally want the order of the preset 'banks' to match your play order. But as above, if that isn't the case it's not too many bank-switches to get to the right place.

- The 'bank' button will go up or down a bank, depending whether you last pressed the 'up' or 'down' button. So your first press of the 'bank' button could go in the wrong direction. You can get round this by ordering the presets so that the last preset change for a song is always an 'up' (or a 'down' depending which way you want the 'bank' switch to go!); or as above, it's still not too many button presses to get where you want (eg remember always to press 'up' before hitting 'bank' etc).

I'm curious how you'd ideally like this to work. Ignoring the limitations of the standard Mustang 4-button footswitch, I can't think of a way to achieve what you want to do, with only one or two button-presses to select any preset, without needing a lot of buttons!
