for us mustang v.1 people......I bought a mustang II like 10 months ago and from what I can see based on fenders ad for the v.2 mustangs us people that have the v.1 mustang I and mustang II's will be missing out on 9 new amp models (the new ad says 17 amp models compared to the old ad that said 8 amp models ...maybe its a misprint?)and 5 new stompbox effects I don't really care too much about the effects but 9 new amps I may or may not be getting... the suspense is killing me and since this amp is only 10 months old and a new one is already out is a lil upsetting and I DO realize...these are lower end fender amps but c'mon guys really..only been a few years and now we have to shell out a couple hundered bucks if we want the new stuff that comes with the v.2 when my amp is in perfect working order and I really like how it looks waaay better than the new v.2's.......I just really like the carbon fiber tolex and the font on the control panel on the v.1's anyways....so what's up fender? can we get an official statement?

You can call 'em yourself, but they are saying they won't upgrade us. This is well covered in a number of other threads on here.

I've noticed only you claiming to have spoken to Fender about this. You wrote: "My source didn't think". That does not sound certain to me.

I think it is very premature to advise V1 owners to run out and buy a V2.

I have no idea what thread it was in, but I do remember Fender support saying that they were working on a firmware update that would be out soon. There was no exception language in the statement. I took it to mean that a new firmware update for the Mustang series was forthcoming. I am a big wait a see kind of person. The "suspense is killing me" type of stuff seems kind of dramatic and testosterone lacking to my ears. What will be will be. I already know there is no Santa Claus. I can handle what ever happens. I would be happy with a smoother running piece of software. I feel I got my money's worth already.

I have found the Fender support responses to be very uneven though. Sometimes very helpful and at other times almost disdainful in their ignoring requests for information. Modern corporations do not allow people to act as caring humans. The accountants and lawyers (quasi-humans) have to be checked with first. I need a puke smiley.

Ok, let me get this straight: I take the time and effort to call Fender and get you important information that you are far too damned lazy to get yourself, and you have the nerve to then attack me for relieving you of your ignorance? Pathetic. Take some responsibility and get your own damned info--or I guess it's far easier to come in here and just pontificate and sneer at folks who actually know something about what's going on because they DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Lazy, lazier, laziest.

Specifications are always -- always -- subject to change without notice.

Historically, Fender -- not just the modern FMIC, but Fender in all her winsome glory -- has constantly updated nearly everything, guitars and amps. Teles get rosewood boards. Amps become brownface, blackface, silverface, solid-state, reissued, etc. V.I becomes V.II.

I bought my Mustang III last November, opened it on Christmas morning. I'm reasonably happy with it, having come to terms with most of its very real limitations. There's still a lot of fun to be had there.

But I bought the amp knowing that FMIC has been living with certain complaints about what people around here are calling "V.I" (fizz, mostly) and knowing that an update could be in the works.

That's the way Fender is. Frankly, it's fine with me.

Umm, I don't recall Fender saying that - either directly or via forum users who've spoken to them and posted here. I've read all the posts, please correct me if I've missed something. All Fender have said is that the new amps have some different stuff in them, both hardware and firmware. They've also said that FUSE (which ISN'T the firmware!) will work with the extra effects in the new amps, and have fallback options if connected to an amp with the old stuff. Fender, to my knowledge, haven't said (and the statements they have made do not necessarily imply) any of the following:
- "There will be no more firmware upgrades for V1 amps"
- "The new DSP effects will never be available for V1 amps via firmware update"
- "The new amp models will never be available for V1 amps via firmware update"
- "The V2 amps have more memory than V1 amps, thus the new features won't fit in the firmware for V1 amps"
- and so on...

All of the above are (educated and well-intentioned) supposition by us, the users. Of course, Fender equally haven't said that they ARE going to do any of the above. It is likely they won't make an explicit up-front announcement either way, because it's commercially sensible for them to leave their options open. The first we will know is if/when a firmware update appears. We can discuss the benefits/downsides of different approaches they may take, and we can hope Fender pay attention to that and make decisions in favour of existing users. But let's not present supposition as undisputable fact, it dilutes the genuine facts that people have obtained and posted here.

This!

I come by here every now and then to check for updates to FUSE and Mustang firmware. FUSE has been in "beta" for over 6 months now and the last Mustang firmware is 7 months old. And yet, a new version of the amp Mustang lineup is just weeks away from shipping by vendors. Is the FUSE software packed in those product boxes now a "beta" version? That seems highly unlikely to me.

It's a circus here in this forum... or maybe a more apt analogy would be a kindergarten where the children are running amok and the teachers are hiding in the bathroom.

I come here for official information and support direct from Fender- not grapevine gossip no matter how well intended. I certainly don't come here to be brow beat, ridiculed or called "lazy" for questioning unofficial information given by amateurs grabbing for the helm and demanding authority because Fender has abandoned it - nor do I find it acceptable for Fender to allow it's customers to be subjected to this behavior on it's official forums.

That's a fine way to generate repeat sales.

The market for traditional musical instruments is declining and so are Fender's sales.

Is this truly how Fender chooses to represent it's self and extend it's growth - by showing there is anarchy and indecision by the staff on it's very own support forums?

Geez, this is not encouraging to me as to the future of FMIC when this kind of decay is allowed to fester. If you can't stand by your customers your done.

Hmmmm this sounds like a familiar tirade from you Musicmaster2. Did you ever get that sinking feeling that "maybe it's not everybody else, maybe it's me".

"I certainly don't come here to be brow beat, ridiculed or called "lazy"..."

Dude, I have a wonderful solution for you which apparently hasn't occurred to you...

CALL FENDER YOURSELF!!!

You will get an OFFICIAL statement from them DIRECT from Fender since you seem to think everybody in here is lying to you and are worthy of your insults and contempt and insufferable pontification.

Of course, a kindergartener couldn't figure out how to dial a phone. Is that what we're dealing with here? Do you need help dialing Fender's number??

Your complaints are valid ones. Please remember, though, that a big reason -- maybe the biggest reason -- this forum exists is for Fender to get information from us. The corporation wants to see what we are saying.

And no company airs proprietary product development step by step publicly. You won't get a tour of the sausage factory here.

That said, yeah, sometimes the silence from FMIC is pretty deafening.

Have you considered medication? Or at least turning off the caps?

You've done enough grandstanding, I think. Your mommy probably wants you off the computer now.
