I am having many many issues with my Mustang II amp. There is a loud hum or fizz that is in the background while playing and even when nothing is being strummed. This is on all setting, on all presets, and no matter what I change as far as gain and such. I've read that connecting it to FUSE may fix this issue, but I can't even get the amp to connect to my Macbook. Any help or thoughts? Please help.

"hum" and "fizz" are very different sounds, can you explain more what this sound is?

If it's a hum, it could be an earth/ground-loop problem. If you search the forum for "ground loop" you'll find many posts discussing causes and resolutions for this.

Also, here's a good video demonstrating what ground-loop hum sounds like and some ways to cure it:

Another common cause of hum could be noise being picked up by the guitar pickups or cable. If possible try different guitars/cables to eliminate any faults in these, then try moving the guitar and cable to different places, eg further away from any other electrical equipment.

If you have active pickups on the guitar, try putting new batteries in them.

How close is your guitar to your PC Monitor when you are using Fuse?

PC Monitors will interfere with your guitar's pickups.

Another thought, ref "I can't even get the amp to connect to my Macbook"

Ground loops on the Mustangs have been caused via the USB connection. Do you get the hum if you completely disconnect the USB lead from the amp?

Also, can you give more detail about what exactly you've done so far to try and connect the amp to your Macbook - that might help troubleshoot the issue. I don't have a Mac, but in general from what I've seen, people install FUSE, plug in the USB lead and it all just works.

Can you run FUSE at all on the Macbook - ie can you get to the main FUSE screen where it tells you it can't find your amp?
