How do I go about using my Mustang Floor with Amplitube 3? Obviously there must be a way considering the inclusion of the Amplitube Fender Lite. Assuming I just connect my Floor to my MacBook via the USB cable how do I go about using Amplitube? Do I need to go to a bypassed preset on the Mustang to only get the tones from Amplitube? I have no problem using Amplitube via my iRig, but I would like to be able to do so using my floor unit.

Also, is there any way to control the parameters in Amplitube using the MF, such as wah/turning on/off stompboxes? Also is it then possible to run the MF direct to a PA but using Amplitube for the actual modeling? (Obviously I would have to have my Macbook hooked up to the Floor) I have been considering purchasing a Stealth Pedal to use Amplitube live, but if I can save some $ by using the MF that would be awesome.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

unless there's a particular effect you have in amplitube that you can't get on the floor I don't see what, other than complexity, amplitube can add to your setup.

As the USB output of the floor comes after all modelling is done, the only possibility I see is that you might have an amp emulation that you can not get on the floor (that would be interesting to know of on itself), in that case you can configure the effects on the floor, with the studio preamp, feed via usb amplitube and there do the amp emulation, then from there to an external power amp. But still this way you will get the delay inherent of using usb+software solution so in the end the result will be less than perfect.

People that like software based solutions (not myself, obviously) tends to use cheap 20$ 1/4-to-USB cables, and not a 175$ mustang floor for the USB interface

I have no clue why fender included amplitube on the mustang series...

Yea, I basically just wanted to use the Floor as a controller for Amplitube. I definitely like the models on the MF, but I have a couple dual amp presets in Amplitube that I really like and would like to be able to use live into a PA. If I have to get a Stealth Pedal to do this than thats cool, just trying to see if theres a way around that.

I see. In that case, if you can live with the delay of a software solution you could do the following:

-guitar - MF input - MF USB - computer USB - amplitube processing - computer speaker out - MF effect return - PA

in this setup you can dial any of the MF no-amp-emulation presets and you will benefit from all the effects and the expression pedal on the MF.

Another possibility, much more advanced but possible, is to get a software that interpret MIDI commands for changes (I have no clue if amplitube can do it but most DAWs do). Then get a MIDI to USB cable (6$ at ebay) and connect the midi out from the MF to your computer (in addition to the previous audio chain setup). Each MF button and pedal will send midi commands that you can use on your DAW to change whatever you configure it to do. So this way you do not use any of the audio processing capabilities of the MF but use it as a MIDI controller (which normally cost as much or more than the Mustang floor, go figure)

I use the described midi setup to control a looper application on my computer and use the MF buttons to control the software functions.

Hi dg_griffin,

I am with jedi2b on this one. You can certainly set up your Fender Mustang Floor and AmpliTube in this manner. But for live use, I am guessing that you will find that the Mustang Floor itself is a going to be a better solution for the usage that you are describing. AmpliTube is included with the package as basically an example of the IK Multimedia product.

If you are going to move ahead with the set up using AmpliTube, you will need the Fender Universal ASIO Driver for use with Windows (link is below). You will also want to set your buffer settings as low as possible in the Settings/Audio Setup section of AmpliTube. Please let us know if we can assist further here.
