I record all of the time with my Mustang 2 and my other Fender amps. Reaper is great and yes it is compatible with USB recording and everything else.

I use my Fender Mustang Floor almost exclusively for all of my recordings, so the Mustang II should work just as good. It is a swiss army knife of guitar tone for my current setup. I use it with all of my guitars except my acoustic bass.

My current setup that goes into my PC is a Mackie Onyx 1620i, which is kinda over kill for a home studio, but I don't like unplugging and plugging back up. I wanna be able to just fire up my daw and go when inspiration hits me.

I use Propellerhead Reason 6, which offers me any sound I could dream of and is a monster of inspiration, plus I am the only guy in the band.... It records analog well and runs great on my old dual core pc with 4gb's of ram. I have a fast ssd drive for the boot disk and two fast 500gb drives for recording and storage.

I plug the line outs and the xlr outs into my mackie and they work fine in my opinion, I do not like recording with USB, so I do not use the usb out for anything except tweaking the Floor settings..

If I was on a budget I would get a Mackie 820i. I have used Sonar Producer for tracking, but highly recommend Propellerhead Reason.

Tone wise I have not found anything that beats the Fender Mustang amp sims and effects for good clean fender sounds, I use a Zoom G5 for my high gain stuff though...

Here is what the Mustang Floor sounds like in the mix..
If you can wade through this, the high gain guitar is done with the Zoom G5 and a Fender Strat using a SD Hot Rails bridge pickup and the blues lead guitar at the end is straight Fender Floor with a Deluxe Players Strat strung up with 12's and tuned down.

The starting guitar in this one is done with the Fender Floor with a Fender Strat and a EMG David Gilmour pickup set..

Hi pet415,

It may be useful to clarify or sort out what is not working on your PC in regard to the Ableton Live software. This may be useful whether or not you end up using this specific app., because the problem may be "global" in which case it may affect other apps. you try as well. Please let us if we can assist.

Are you using a PC or a Mac?
If a PC, what version of Windows?

If on a PC, have you installed an ASIO driver (either Fender's or ASIO4ALL)? Search this forum and the Fender knowledge base for "ASIO" for all the instructions / information you'll need. In particular, see these two articles:
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... io-driver/
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... -playback/

Note in particular that when using ASIO, the Mustang amp won't appear as a recording device in Windows. You have to configure it all inside the recording app. The above articles cover this in detail, particularly for Ableton. Perhaps if you can explain exactly what point you get to in this process with Ableton we can help you fix whatever it is that isn't working.

Or, if you have an app that wants to use the Windows audio drivers rather than ASIO, you need to install FUSE and the Windows drivers it supplies, then go to Control Panel, Sounds, Recording, then right-click and check "Show Disabled Devices." Then set the Mustang device that appears to be your default recording device.

Hi pet415,

Our apologies for us not responding or for the response not being helpful. We receive a large volume of email. And we would need to have an email address to search in order to locate your previous email. Can you send us one more email and put it attention "Live set up/ASIO". We will then pull your previous message and get back with you shortly.
Please include your Forum name and real name too. Thanks much.

I'm about to pick up a Mustang. Can't access any of the support links for my query, as all these divert to the Aus support site and I can't find them.

Is it right to say you can record with one on a Mac and Garageband or other software, provided you have software included with the Mustang?

Hi Guys,

If we are talking about Mac OS X, the Fender Mustang series amps are seem as Core Audio devices. You can use Garage Band or other Core Audio compliant software to record with the Mustang. You will need to select either built-in or other third-party hardware to output audio. With Windows, you would likely need to use the Fender Universal ASIO driver. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,
