Ok guys, I'm gonna let you in on a dirty little secret that apparently nobody else can figure out here, but it gives new meaning to "hide in plain sight." It's a multi-stage process so pay attention:

1) Announce in this thread that you intend to CALL Fender.

2) Actually CALL Fender.

3) Ask pertinent questions of Fender CSR.

4) Report answers in this thread.

There'll be a pop quiz on this later.

To be more specific, the guy I got on the phone who seemed pretty bright and informed, when asked about possible V.1 upgrading to V.2 said, "Hang on, we were talking about that this morning, let me ask about that..." When he came back on about 2 minutes later I was under the impression he had just talked with tech staff. Thus the detail on "totally new chip" and "no upgrade path for V.1."

The only tidbit of info I didn't report was a touch fuzzy. He said, "So when we update presets or other stuff for V.2 in FUSE, the V.1 users will get older substitutes for those elements that aren't available in their hardware set." You can interpret that any way you want, that's just what he said.Image

So, if you load a V2 preset with the green screamer in your V1 you will actualli get the same preset but with the standard overdrive instead of the grean screamer...

As for the fuse issue, fuse actually already manage different amps with different hardware and features!

Yeah, that kind of "substitution" process. Which implies there WON'T necessarily be a separate dept. for V.1 and V.2s in FUSE, just this swapout dealie when a preset or whatever requires the new V.2 effect or model. But that's speculation, we'll have to see how that plays out in the real world. They may not have fully worked that out themselves yet. The amps won't even be out 'til March.

Why the cryptic "my source says" B.S.? Why not just say a Fender CSR gave you this info?

Not necessarily. My source made clear there wasn't any change to the modeling engine or upgrade paths with the new chip. Usually it's like the incremental hardware changes to game consoles: cheaper-to-produce chips with zero performance enhancements. Don't expect any awesome new D/Ls for V.2-only. My source says that's not gonna happen.

It was my source. I stated I was going to CALL FENDER. I detailed the conversation with the CSR. Who was in fact my source. Try to pay attention here.

you've spread that info across 3 redundant threads, all of which you started. It's getting a little hard to follow, skippy.

At one point there were many multiple "fizz" threads, did you police them as well? What you call redundant I call clarifying. If you can't appreciate the factual information it takes me time and energy to contribute here--and I might add it's information that Fender refuses to provide us within this forum even though it's SUPPOSED TO BE a Fender-supported forum--then why don't you contribute something of your own besides snark and snipe and trolling?

Try doing some research and bringing something in here of actual value to the good folks in here. Flaming and whining is NOT contributing.

what you're missing is that you're just another person on this forum. OK you say you spoke to a Fender Customer Service Representative directly, thus is must be so. Well I spoke to Jimi Hendrix last week, he says polka is the future of guitar. No, really I spoke to him directly, don't you believe me?

That's your contribution to this forum? Folks need information, go get some. Here's Fender's #: 480-596-9690. Tell them that they're lying about the new chip, that you know way more than they do about it.

But that would take time, and effort. Something that flaming never requires.

Well, Fender are still idiots for issue such a bullshit statement but I got a call today, the amp if finally ready and "fixed".

I've been playing it for the past 3 hours and the fizz is completely gone. I did my IT guy geek curious act and I found out the serial# on the speaker is not the same so they changed it, and the tech changed the power supply unit since he measured (his words) "unacceptable readings". He concluded by telling me that we should not be playing clean with the gain higher than 3 on any amp ... as if I would play clean with the gain on 10...

Anyway, it seems this problem is fixable and most certainly hardware. We will see in 3 months how it turns out and if the problem comes back.

My advice, take the plunge on the warranty repairs and harass them since it seems that's what it takes to get an answers. The tech has been calling Fender every day for the past two week asking for instructions and authorization on repairs.

Good stuff, except you missed this, and then then proceeded to give another forum member a tongue lashing for "lazily demanding others do their homework"

Amp back from repairs, did not fizz for 2 weeks and it's back again on full force.

Problem permanently solved: Mustang III sold to less discerning player on kijiji.

Me buying myself a wonderful Jet City JCA100H :) Gonna rock the casba with a...ok not so clean amp I concur...but what a wonderful tone AND FIZZ FREE :D

I bid farewell to those who were friendly and actually had a useful discussion. I will not be back on the Fender amp forums since I will not be buying another Fender gear ever again. I just cannot support a company that does not support their product and manages to insult their customers by taking them for idiots in an official statement.

Have you considered that if Fender wanted the information that you're posting on their forums to be posted here, they would already have done it themselves? I wish you luck.
