It doesn't say "new", it just lists "Low-noise power amp platform" as one of the features among new and old features. However, I think you're on to something. This was a phrase never used before in connection with the amp. The fact that they added it now sounds like they did, in fact, identify the fizz issue in the power amp and it's fixed now.

Remember, their legal staff has directed them to be super careful about phraseology. They can not refer to any previous deficiency in the amp line or suffer major legal headaches.

Well, it says "low noise," not "no noise," and the fizz is low noise (just incredibly annoying at bedroom volumes), so this doesn't necessarily mean the fizz is gone.

I haven't seen any reports from NAMM of anyone asking Fender about the fizz. I don't expect anyone from Fender TSL to mention here whether the v.2 has improved the digital artifact situation.

I still think we'll have to wait until the amps are in the stores and we can try 'em out ourselves.

The Fender product page for the amp (http://www.fender.com/series/mustang/mustang-iii-v2/) does explicitly say "new low-noise power amp platform" which implies something has changed in the power amp. However yes, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating... err, or listening...

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Scott! Yes, I think this is what we've been waiting for.

FIZZ-FREE is no longer just for Cokes you left out overnight.

Fender has to have fixed the fizz and it would be completely illogical otherwise. Try to think about this from their point of view on all levels.

Ohhhhh,...and to never hear or see the printed word FIZZ again. SOL!!! (sighing out loud)

That will only happen if Fender does us right somehow. Otherwise, we're all still stuck with our fizzy Mustangs, and really SOL.

Ah ha. So Fender *does* say new. I intentionally left that word out of my quotation marks in my post bringing attention to this, but I should have included it.

So much for speculation about what Fender's "legal staff" has instructed "them" what and what not to do. :D

Thanks.

Nice, like a said, gonna buy a v2 head anyway. It doesn't brake my pockets, have some new amps, some new stomps, Fizz-free and we will probely have more firmwares and stuff, especially in the beginning because it is new.

My old one can be in the rehersal room and the new one in the studio :) So I don't have to carry it around anymore.

And if the TS808 is good enough, I may sell my Maxon Tubescreamer (which i don't use that often anymore).

I have a no-fizz Mustang IV that I just love. I don't care about the new amps and effects but I WISH that I could use an overdrive with the wah, or the od with a comp or...

Why, oh why can't I use that amp like a "real" one? I will hang on to the IV but I have an old Mesa Mark III incoming and that may put the IV to sleep. We'll see :)

Gotta love the bizarro phraseology Fender's lawyers have tortured the marketing folks into! "Noise-free power amp platform".

What gets me about the V2 amps is the extra amp models, new effects, and the ability to use the EXP-1 as an actual Wah pedal with these amps, instead of just changing levels or settings on a static wah stomp box. Possibly even use it as a pitch-shifter pedal. Definately want this, but I'd rather still have the carbon-fiber tolex over the black elephant tolex.

I thought about a thing I REALLY REALLY want fender to fix. Fender please listen!

I want fender mustang to work better with overdrive/distortion pedals. And this could be fixed through software by lowering the input inside the DSP, so that the signal gets lower before it hits the amp-modelings. You can do this in all guitar-modelling-softwares.

Can someone clarify this?
If using a V1 MIII : I thought the Expression pedal did simulate a proper Wah?
If not, what the hell does it do on V1 amps?

I think Fender missed a trick : you should really be able to assign any parameter of any device to an expression pedal - or how about setting up little patches with 2 or 3 params and you can set top value and bottom value and the pedal interpolates between the two settings ...
