oh man! why did they have to use that commodore-64-like font on the new knob plate?

BTW, for the Version 3, it would be cool if they take out the XLR connecteors and use that money for metal jacks instead :)

What part of this confirms that Fender said the fizz problems were with the PS? Fender early on did some hoop jumping and replaced this and that when the fizz was first reported. But they have never said where the fizz originated, and if you go back and read the fizz thread, you'll see that the few early attempts to fix the fizz with selected parts replacement were unsuccessful. Fender no longer fixes or replaces anything to address fizz complaints. Fender later on told people they know what the problem was, but never told anyone the specifics, from what I can get from reading ALL the messages in the fizz thread and elsewhere. If it were a simple matter of a discrete parts replacement, there would be no story here.

ok we get it

No, you don't. But carry on.

You used the word 'Fizz' 7 times in 6 sentences. Not like anyone could miss that.

yeah I agree- version 1 is clean and clear graphics - v2 is back to the '80s and hideous font
[could be intentional : they want to appeal to '80s hair rockers!]

Fender can't discuss fizz at all re: V.2 since they basically deny it was ever there in the first place.

A curiously wimpy update of the line. What were they thinking??

So that subtle fizz? probably still there.

Darn! no mention of what the new emulations and effects really are....

Does anybody know?

The fender site lists only the V2 models now but the specifications says nothing relevant, and of course the documentation for V2 is not available either...

They new Peavey Vyper seems pretty "meehh".

"The Vypyr VIP series also includes a MIDI port for use with Sanpera® foot controllers and firmware updates." - yeah, updating software through MIDI in 2013 .. a feature so unstable that it actually got me to skip it and buy the fender mustang (half the vypyr-forum are about amps that completely broke after firmware-updates, and on top of that: peavey don't cover that kind of damage because "you updated on your own risk", so you have to buy a new one  they make the fender support staff seem like heroes in comparision)

http://www.peavey.com/news/index.cfm/id/714

The tube-models are gone and so are the head-models.

The guys at the vypyr 2 forum seems really dissapointed:

"I pretty much agree with everything I've seen on the forums thus far. Peavey has taken the suggestions and critiques from their fan base, thrown them out the window, and more or less just gave it a facelift. What a shame.

I was excited as we waited to see what upgrades Peavey had made to the Vypyr line, yet, with our funds at home being tight, I was worried that GAS would overtake me and I would want one of them.

It seems that I was worried for nothing. I have no GAS for a new Vypyr.

Mully was right - this appears to be a sidestep into a (percieved) new market - and not a step forward in an established market.

Plus, I am disappointed that they seem to have dropped the tube series from Vypyr. Bummer."
"The only real advantage I see so far is the potential of better stability and perhaps a little better software inside. Other than that, it looks just the same - or worse than the original line. I was dreading getting bit by the upgrade bug, but it seems the apple isn't any sweeter than the old one. It looks pretty lame too."
"Not gonna lie - it looks like a failure. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe a 3-in-one option for electric, bass and acoustic players is EXACTLY what the market is calling for. I doubt it, though. It looks cheap, it looks over-burdened with "features", it just looks bad. Worse than a Line 6, if that's possible."

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but the other "amp emulation" is called studio preamp (kind of no emulation with the tone stack only) as is present already on the floor

on the effects side it says:
ranger boost (self explanatory)
green box (ts-9 clone I supose)
orange box (i have no clue)
black box (marshall blues breaker?)
big fuzz

and you can do some tricks with the EXP-1 pedal that were previously reserved to the Floor

oh, and they forgot to add new leds/layout to the M1/2 so now is even more confusing than with V1

Vypyr doesn't have amp-heads anymore, and vox vt never has, fender mustang 2.0 will be standing alone against Line6 in this matter.

The weight and dimensions of the fender mustang V 2.0 are exactly the same as 1.0 btw. According to a german store it will be in stock 18.02.2013

I see nothing to make me want to upgrade, and frankly, I thought I would! Weak tea for sure.

"They" were thinking that this is the "world's best selling amplifier series." And if it's not broken (in "their" view), why fix it?

By the way, I think we can all agree that early adopters have the superior faceplate font. That's a win, brothers and sisters. A gen-u-ine win.

yep I agree, no need to upgrade here.

All the overdriven sounds I want I can get with the amp emulation alone and in extreme cases I know how to tweak the overdrive stomp to sound like a TS-808. The other new effects are not interesting to me.

From the new emulations I would like the 57 Twin maybe, but I already have a preset that does it quite convincingly. The others are just Marshall stuff, that I can more or less emulate If I feel like it with the british 70's or American 90, so it is kind of redundant.

The XLRs I have no use for. And frankly in the last couple of weeks I totally forgot about the fizz :)

If the new firmware becomes available for V1 amps I will download it to play with the new emulations but that's all.

Ah, and I would never trade my existing faceplate for the new one :)
