well, according to the photo I saw from the Vypyr 2, it now has a front LCD (good move!, I hope the mustangs had one too as the one in the top requires to be on top of the amp to see it) but other than that it looks cheaper and more fragile than any other amp I ever saw.

Chances are Fender will try to add more high gain models to the fenders to get closer to Vypyr, Line-6 and the like.

I frankly expect in a few years every one of these emulation amps to have pretty much the same features as everyone else, which I guess, is good for us consumers :)

Have you noticed how the Mustang floor is never part of the new amp announces?

they either forgot to mention it (unlikely) or it's going to get the V2 update by firmware upgrade... :P

and if THAT is true, I do not see why the M3-4-5 V1 would not get the upgrade too

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I suspect that the fizz issue has been fixed with this version. They, the manufacturer, never acknowledged the problem and they don't have to acknowledge it now. Just fix it and move on. I weighed in on this issue in the "big thread". I had two III's and they both fizzed. I returned them. I have the 'Floor', but would like to have a fizz-free Mustang III. I've had guitar gear since the 60's, though I'm not a very good player. I really liked the III, but the fizz was a deal breaker. I'm a stay at home player and don't play too loudly. I remain hopeful about this, but time will tell.

Well, I guess that answers that.

But seriously,

I wonder where Fender did their market research. Are XLR outputs really the most asked-for, deal-breaking, I'll-buy-Peavey-if-you-don't-do-this feature? Yes I can see the XLR line-out is useful for larger stage rigs, where you want the amp as monitor and a DI feed into the PA (rather than the amp alone being sufficient) - but I'm not sure that's really where most Mustangs are sold/used? For people wanting something that level of professional quality, I'd have thought that metal jack sockets, a solid wood cabinet, etc, would have been higher up the wish-list? The lack of a proper line-out is work-around-able (eg use the FX send) but a broken cabinet or jack socket (both of which are not uncommon complaints, at least from what I've seen) is potentially terminal. Or maybe I'm completely missing something?

Guess you missed this one, Bruce. And all the others as well. One of many posts across the net referencing the MIII power supply fix, chosen at random. Do your homework for once instead of lazily demanding others do it for you.

Well, Fender are still idiots for issue such a bullshit statement but I got a call today, the amp if finally ready and "fixed".

I've been playing it for the past 3 hours and the fizz is completely gone. I did my IT guy geek curious act and I found out the serial# on the speaker is not the same so they changed it, and the tech changed the power supply unit since he measured (his words) "unacceptable readings". He concluded by telling me that we should not be playing clean with the gain higher than 3 on any amp ... as if I would play clean with the gain on 10...

Anyway, it seems this problem is fixable and most certainly hardware. We will see in 3 months how it turns out and if the problem comes back.

My advice, take the plunge on the warranty repairs and harass them since it seems that's what it takes to get an answers. The tech has been calling Fender every day for the past two week asking for instructions and authorization on repairs.

What part of this confirms that Fender said the fizz problems were with the PS? Fender early on did some hoop jumping and replaced this and that when the fizz was first reported. But they have never said where the fizz originated, and if you go back and read the fizz thread, you'll see that the few early attempts to fix the fizz with selected parts replacement were unsuccessful. Fender no longer fixes or replaces anything to address fizz complaints. Fender later on told people they know what the problem was, but never told anyone the specifics, from what I can get from reading ALL the messages in the fizz thread and elsewhere. If it were a simple matter of a discrete parts replacement, there would be no story here.

I truly hope fender has fixed it. We'll see.

I could not take it,, Went back with the MIII and got a new BJIII. Nice amp for people who like cleans at low volume, Got a stock black one, while the Gold Rush comes in,, For my personal tastes the MIII Was agreat amp, BUT the clean(what I play mostly) did not cut it! Who knows I will wish all new Mustang owners the best, But you get what you pay for I think, The fizz, was so annoying, I figure the less stuff in the amp the less stuff can go wrong, The BJIII Sound great, and cleans at low levels? work great for me! But I will still keep my eye on what Fender does with these amps!

I'm with you on the MIII cleans, they never quite have the warmth, delicacy or lush responsiveness of a good tube amp. There is always a subtle SS hard overtone to them. But they work ok for live, and it's really the vast palette of rockin' grinds the MIII can achieve which works so well.

photos of new MII show it to be just a cosmetic update - same plastic jacks throughout, no mini led panel -disappointing

Hm, at least we know that the price will be the same even at launch :) I will buy the Mustang 2.0 V if the fizz is sorted out and if not a vypyr 2.0 head

I would be surprised if we learn anything about the fizz this week. I think we're going to have to wait until the new amps hit the stores.

These are not the Mustang Pro's we were hoping for. I think it's still aimed at the Squier crowd.
