Hey guys, I realize there is a massive thread already on this issue but I had a question not so obviously answered there. Has anyone bought a mustang recently and had the fizz ?

Is your amp in the mains socket from the wall or an extension cable? Mine was in an extension cable socket and I had a horrible fizz.

I haven't had any issues with it.

I have a new III, just picked it up this past week... It definitely has the fizz, but unless I'm playing low notes with some sustain, I'm not sure that I really notice it.

My FEAR is that, as some others have indicated, it'll suddenly get much worse, so I may return the amp so I don't have to suck up a $300 loss.

Guys... have any of you tried a line conditioner? I am using an Uninterruptible power supply (with line conditioning), and have absolutely no hint of fizz, not that I've noticed any in other sockets. There were some previous posts on the mega thread which hinted that a dirty line signal could lead to the "fizz".

I haven't tried that specifically (I have one in the garage), but again, my issue is that if I don't hear it now, but it gets worse later, then I'm screwed. That's what I want to avoid.

But maybe that doesn't really happen!?

I wouldn't worry about it. There's no evidence to suggest that the fizz gets worse or better over time, other than what a few forum members have suggested. Just let go of your fizz fears and except the amp for what it is. If you can do that, you cannot be disappointed.

every single mustang 3-4-5 that I ever tried does the fizz, if you know how to look for it. But then I really don't care about it because the effect is minimal or nonexistent the way I play.

Advice, go and try one, if you find the sound good using the presets you would normally use and playing your style, buy it

I actually have one, and I find the fizz to be there, but minimal enough that I can't hear it unless I listen for it.

The modeling algorithms in this amp are top notch. The construction seems shoddy. Plastic parts, ports soldered directly to the board, etc. I would LOVE to see this in a pro-level amp, one that could stand the rigours of gigging.

I normally play a deluxe reverb with a fairly minimal pedal board, but I've got a dialed in sound. This amp not only gets me there, but it's so simple for me to define new configs that sound fantastic that I've been playing more than ever... there's no mental hassle of "gotta hook up the pedals and find something cool".

Man, I really hope I can count on this thang.

I noticed it on mine had the MIII 2 weeks now, I do have the Sam Ash Ext Warranty which would let me return IF Needed for 2 years,,, I really like the amp a lot! But that fizz kills me, using a Setzer Sig Grestch, It is such a shame, I have a Hum X on the end of the power cable, going into a surge protector,, I will try different things, I also use the Mogami Gold Inst cable, I also think I may try a longer cable It may help just a tad,, But If you are not playing clean like I do all the time,, No problems at all! Just this small issue is killing me, because I like the amp and what I can do with it, Would be a shame to get rid of it!!

That sounds like reasonable evidence to me.

Many people, myself included, have reported that the fizz was minimal or absent on purchase and developed and worsened over time, beginning well past most retailer's return period, and that Fender will not honor any warranty claims if fizz develops. I would remind the poster that a rep from Fender tech services quoted to me directly on a phone conversation that all the mkIII - V either fizz or will fizz, and this is backed by Fender's official statement on fizz - that it is a normal byproduct of their technology that "discerning listeners" may find objectionable. You can parse that how you like. If it doesn't bother you now, and you don't rely primarily on clean jazz/folk, don't worry about it. But if it does, eventually, just be aware that Fender won't replace or fix your amp for this issue.

I am noticing the deluxe blackface is the worst! anyway I can still return mine, but I really like the sounds I can get, So, Please what could you recommend for an apartment? If I return the MIII, I would NOT opt in for a Mustang line at all. There are some amp presets that are very nice, The twin really does me right! I tried different cables like I posted before,,, No go. I like the deluxe VM, too loud? Also I would need to go with a 12" speaker , the 10 just don't do it for me. Thanks a Million in advance! mark
