I bought an MXR Blue Box off Ebay. I have a Tube amp being made, but for now I have problems playing through MY Mustang III.

The volume drops out on the high notes. Sometimes it does sutain through the note until the end and then it craps out. It just doesn't sound right. On the bass notes with the blend full down on the left side it has a weird cut in, like the octave kicks in a second after the note is picked.

I contacted the seller, h doesn't except returns. He suggested turning off the noise gate. It was off. Turning it on only helped.

I'm thinking it could be the Amp. My Tube Amp (Gabriel Stinger) should be here in two weeks. Any suggestions? Is this not a good pedal for the Mustang III?

PS Playing through Les Paul R9 and Fender Jazzmaster.

hey,

If you want to do a quick check to know if it is your pedal that is sucking the tone try the following:

-connect your guitar to your pedal input
-connect your pedal output to the mustang 3 fx return
-change the mustang volume using master volume knob alone

this way you are taking away all the modelling of the mustang and using it as a solid state amp. If your tone still is not correct take a closer look into your pedal.

Just a personal opinion, but I can't see how this would be the amp. I don't know much about the blue box, only what I've read, but I've seen other reports suggesting they can be problematic.

Thanks for the reply guys!

I played the blue box through the return on the effects loop and I still have the same problem.

It appears that the problem I'm having is common amongst all owners of the Blue Box.

It's a cool effect, but it would be better if it could sustain better.

Thanks for the help guys!
