I have an overdrive on one of my presets, and whenever I switch to that preset, the OD is on, even if I turned it off before switching back to pre-set select mode. What's up with that? Shouldn't the default be "off?"

Not sure what you mean, but whenever you switch from a preset, any changes you made are lost unless you saved them, and when you go back then the preset will be the way it was before you changed it.

So... if you want a change to be there when you get back to a preset you have to have saved it with the change made.

Is that the question?

The preset is saved fine. I have an OD pedal on a Twin. If I turn the OD off before switching presets, when I hit the foot pedal to switch back to the Twin, it's on. So I can't switch from another preset to the clean Twin. I have to change modes and turn off the OD every time I want the clean Twin.

To rephrase what Ovangol2 said:

- Switch to the preset in question
- Turn off the overdrive (by pressing the STOMP button). That is, don't remove the overdrive from the preset, just deactivate it
- Now save the preset *if you don't save at this point, the fact you've turned off the overdrive isn't remembered*

Switch to another preset, then switch back to the above preset. The overdrive should I think be off at this point.

So, you can have the preset with the overdrive either on or off when you first switch to it. What you can't do (and this might be what you're asking) is have the amp automatically remember whether the overdrive was last on or off *unless you explicitly save that*

If the extra 'save' step is a problem (and I agree it could be) a better solution might be to have two different presets, identical except that one has the overdrive on and one has it off.
