I have a Marshall DSL40C in my possession right now. It's not mine. A friend left it here to jam with. His other amps are Marshall half stacks so he bought the new DSL40C to lug around. Anyway it's got that awesome Marshall mid squawk they're famous for and some thick meaty crunchy tone. Of course that's only on the crunch channel lead 1 mode. The other 3 modes suck and I have no use for them. Tonight I set out to recreate that on my Mustang IV and A/B'd them side by side until I got really freakin close. It helps that my Mustang IV has the same Celestion 70/80's as the DSL40C. Anyway, tried the Marshall models and couldn't find the tone flavor I was looking for. I ended up finding it with the Mesa model. That doesn't bother me, whatever it takes. I added just a hint of reverb because the digital reverb on the DSL40C is very subtle. I used a Gibson SG standard while creating the preset. If you want the preset I uploaded it as "Marshall DSL Lead1"

Thanks man. It took me a while of tweaking to find it. Fortunately I had the amp I was trying to model sitting right there. That made it way easier than trying to find it from memory or a recording. My mistake was trying to find it with the Marshall models. I tried and tried but couldn't. I had to go with the Mesa model and back the gain way off. In the end I got it about 99% the same as the DSL. It's about the only preset I'm using these days. I'm thrilled because I was beginning to worry that the Mustang wasn't going to be able to pull it off. Enjoy.

This is an AWESOME preset! I'm using it for most of the sets we play that call for a more modern Marshall tone.
Thanks for posting it! I'm playing a Jackson DXMG with a SD Distortion in the bridge and a '59 at the neck as well as a Michael Dolsey Design MK strat with a Steve Lukather EMG set (85/sa/sa) and they both sound awesome with this preset.
