I would like to have Comp and OD on the same preset, but since they are both "Stomps" I have to choose one or the other. Is there a way to assign a "Stomp" to the "Mod" switch, for example?

Sorry, that's one thing you can't do as far I know.

Hi jbmando,

We will be happy to assist. Unfortunately, due to the hardware architecture on the Fender Mustang devices, you are not able to use Compression and Overdrive in conjunction in the PRE or POST position. You do have the option to adjust the BIAS and SAG under the Advanced tab in Fender FUSE, which might help you get closer to the Preset, you are trying to create. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Yes, I already use those settings for a compressed type sound, but I like the squish and pick attack of a compressor which I can't exactly replicate with the sag and bias. I truly believe that this would be the ultimate processor with the option of assigning any effect to any button. I love the amp sounds and the effect sounds are very good but I would rather be able to customize my presets and I found one exception - wah is both a stomp and a mod, so I can set up a dirty wah sound. All you have to do is make all effects available under each category and let the user choose how to put them together. It could even be an "Advanced" extra list only available with FUSE if you wanted to do it that way. Also, I believe you should put a dotted eight tap tempo setting on your delays - tap in quarters and get dotted eighth echos.

As an alternative suggestion, can you find an amp model and gain setting that gives you the 'overdrive' sound you want? Then you can use the 'compressor' effect and don't need a separate 'overdrive' effect. Yes I realise that might not get you exactly the same sound as a dedicated overdrive effect, but might get you close enough (after all, 'overdrive' effects started from emulating amp gain in the first place...).

Hi Guys,

'scott-uk' has a good suggestion here. By auditioning different amp models, you may find one that offers the "behavior" or tone you are looking for and then combine it with the Stomp of your choice. Thanks.

Yeah, I was just hoping to use one patch with a clean '65 Twin that I could OD if I wanted it. I can figure something out. This little box is pretty cool, all in all.

Hi jbmando,

I would suggest trying Preset 02 Intro Clean. Remove the post effects and select Overdrive for your stomp. Also, don't forget about the Advanced Amp tab in Fender FUSE. That gives you access to the BIAS/SAG and Can Sim features. You can also get to those via the Amp button on your Mustang Floor.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

This is how I set up my three patches to begin with, except I used 93 Basic Twin as a basis for the presets. I added Comp, tremolo, delay and reverb to one; OD, wah, delay and reverb to the second, OD, trem and reverb to the third. I want to put all these effects on one preset. All common settings are identical in all three presets. Sag is minimum and bias is maximum on all three. This sounds the best to my ear. My Cab is 65Twin. I use the expression pedal for mod and it controls the wah or tremolo speed depending on which preset it is on. If the effect is off, the pedal is a volume pedal. I would like a way to either: set the insert button to an internal effect, or: set the buttons on the MS-4 to internal effects. I do not want to use different amp sims or any external effects. I have saved these to 00, 01, and 02 on the unit and I do not have Liquid Solo, White Chapel Heavy or Intro Clean available any longer.
Like I said, I love the sounds and I can get by with it this way, but as a user, I would rather have it all at one preset, the way an amp and a pedal board would work.

Hi, jbmando.
Man, you're asking for Boss GT capabilities of the Mustang. While I understand why you want these features, I think there would be a penalty in the form of complexity and worse tone. Personally, as a Boss GT owner, I'm glad to forgo the flexibility of the GT for for the far superior sounds of the Mustang. It takes a lot of tweaking to get the GTs to sound only half as good as the Mustangs.

O.

Well, I have had other processors, including a boss GT and a Zoom GFX and I do like the Mustang more than those, but I don't see why you just can't have any effect available to assign to any switch. I am only a church player and I use a Blues Junior or a Peavey Bandit 112, never direct to the board, so I don't even need reverb on my pedal board. As I said, I can work with this, but I would like the unit a lot more if I could truly customize my presets. The whole idea of the Floor was to jettison an 80 pound SKB board with 9 pedals. I don't want to put any externals in the loop to have OD, Comp, delay, tremolo and chorus available from one preset. Again, reverb doesn't matter, because the amps I use have it already, or they can put some on it from the control board if it is necessary. I would also love to be able to tap in quarter notes and get dotted eighth echos, although I know how to count them in in the absence of an internal tempo convertor.

Hi jbmando,

Thanks for your feedback here. The Fender Mustang Floor does have a fixed layout for the effects section. That being said, you definitely do have some good flexibility with it's effects range. It sounds like you want to stack a Comp and OD. And that is one area where the Mustang will restrict you to either the Comp or OD.

One other thought would be to audition some different amp models to see if one meets your needs in terms of tone, then check out the Bias and SAG adjustments as well (Fender FUSE or press-hold the Amp button on the amp itself to access these settings. Please let us know if we can assist further.
