I had a Mustang III and it seemed I'd get a terrible headache after playing for more than ten minutes on most of the distortion models. Cleans were fine, just some part of the distortion was just too brittle or digital for my tastes.

The other three tube amps here in the same room I can play for hours on end, at volume, and be just fine. Still, the M3 is nice amp... just not for me.

I understand what your saying. I felt sorta the same way when I first got my amp. But after spending some time learning how my guitars interact with the amp models and learning how to tweak for optimal tone, I can take any preset you throw at me (factory or user) and tweak it to something usable.

I'm not saying that every tone in there has something that everyone could fall in love with, but if I'm looking for a high gain super distortion guitar tone, I can find one that makes me happy.

I just received my Mustang I & new Epiphone DOT (335 clone). I've been playing Les Pauls for 40+ years but always wanted a hollowbody. I have 4 other amps (2 old Vintage tubers and 2 SS), a slew of pedals and 2 multi-effect pedalboards. I also have 3 different computer interfaces, Windows 7 laptop, and my "baby" is an older PPC G5 tower system (dual 2.5 ghz. w/6 gigs) with a 24" Samsung HD monitor. I normally use Logic 9, Cubase and Reaper for my Daw's.

I LOVE the Mustang so far! It's amazing what $109 buys in the 21st century. I play through headphones 99% of the time so the speaker size wasn't an issue. The Mustang sounds super sweet.

I'm an old Rocker - 61 this year. Still have longassed hair and play Blues, Classic Rock and also love me some Metal too. I play everyday - sometimes for hours...

Thanks Fender. In my giggin' days (the 70's and early 80's) I stood in front of a Marshall 100-watt Superlead with 2 old Fender silvercloth 2/15 bottoms (I used Electrovoice 200's in them). My main guitar was my 68 LP Custom. I actually owned a Super Fender Twin 2/12 for awhile but traded it for a SUNN Beta Lead when they were released as a lot of us thought the new SS amps were the "Future" - they could crank out full distortion without blowing out the windows and finally gave us a dependable amp for giggin' without having to carry around a box of spare tubes... although I continued to gig with my Marshall as it had "the sound" of angels.

I'm lovin' the Mustang I and just got done playing on it for 2+ hours.

Rock On!

I think it is awesome you are digging the new mustang strangedogs. I will be 60 in a little more than a month and own the mustang 1 and love what my money bought me. I live int he headphones with it. Oh yeah, longsassed hair still too. Glad it is still growing. :D

I think the mustang 1 is all about headphones and playing anywhere without bugging people. The ability to record is another big plus.

I do like the fuse software too. Changing cabs in advanced amp setting is tweaking that is an art in itself. Enjoy.

No, you are not the oldest. We have at least one 70 year old and he just bought a SCX2 . My other guitar amp. There are a fair amount of geezers here by my reckoning.

BTW. Welcome aboard. I am a relative newbie. I am off to check out your site. Thanks.
