Alright, so before I go on about my idea, I should illustrate my setup:

Guitar -> Lovepedal Amp 11 -> MXR Blue Box (I still have that?!) -> Digitech RP255 (used to be for amp models, now just for the tuner and volume pedal) -> Mustang I (now used for amp modeling) -> Digidelay -> PA system

Now. I got the Mustang I a couple weeks ago, and I've loved the tones I've been able to get out of the Fender Twin preset (kind of a guilty pleasure). However, running the output through a 3.5mm headphone jack isn't quite ideal. Our drummer stepped on the cord running out of the amp and broke the headphone jack as well as bent the cord. I'm planning on going back to the guitar store I bought this from to see if they can either fix it or replace it.

So my question is this: should a fellow like me try again with the Mustang I, or is there some alternative out there that I would be better off with? I got the Mustang I in the first place because it was cheap, it was basic, and it had some pretty nice tones to my ears (at least, better than that Digitech, blech). I'm not picky when it comes to either a floor unit or an amp that has an output feature. Thank you to any responders!

If you're using the Mustang solely for its modelling, and not using its power-amp / speaker (I assume you aren't, as with something plugged into the headphone socket the speaker is muted), then...

Why not try the Mustang Floor? Sounds like it might be more suited to your setup: it provides all the modelling and effects, with balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (1/4") outputs for sending to your PA, mixer, etc.

Plus it's lighter and less bulky than any of the Mustang amps, precisely because it doesn't have an amp/speaker.

Plus it has an expression pedal built-in, and more footswitch buttons for controlling things.

I haven't looked into it that much, honestly. I would be a nice addition, although that would take a good chunk out of my Jazzmaster fund. However, I suppose that could always be put on hold for awhile longer.

The fender mustang floor is a good buy.. At 199.00 and what it is capable of is a total steal. It is good for gigs and recording. I have recently built a rack rig for mine. A QSC Gx5 power amp and a Rane dual band eq. I hook this up to a 2x12 cab with two 16ohm Texas Heat speakers. I am totally amazed at the tones I am coaxing out of this setup. I have A/B'd it against my Blues Deluxe and Blues Deville and is pretty damn convincing once you get it dialed in..

Haha, I only wish. With a student budget combined with a sound team that would prefer I kept speakers off the stage, I think it'll be a long time before I go to something like that (but man oh man do I pray for the day!). The more I look at it, the more appealing the Mustang Floor looks. And I mistakenly looked at the msrp when checking the price, so it definitely is a steal like you said.

Zzounds.com will give you a pay plan on orders of around 269.00. Around 62.00 a month. The floor has stereo balanced outs. I run those into my mixer for recording and it is one of the best sounding DI's I have ever used. I run a Hardwire CM2 and a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet into the floor unit, but you can get pretty good results with a stock Boss DS1. The floor also has an effects loop.

The song Apocrypha on my ReverbNation page has a lead solo at the end of it that I did with a Fender Floor and a Deluxe Players Strat. The rhythm guitar is done with the Floor as well and a standard strat with a duncan hot rail in the bridge...

That could definitely do some good. The Lovepedal is what I use for my overdrive/boost, and it's fairly similar to your Fulltone from what I've heard and seen. I had tried a Boss DS-1 once, but I honestly couldn't stand it that much. Just not my flavor, I guess. But I think I'll probably trade the Mustang I in to my local guitar store and front another $100 to get the floor if things turn out right.

Well, after stopping by Samuel Music, it turned out they didn't have a Mustang Floor in stock, and to buy one direct from Fender cost them $215 as opposed to $199 at Musicians Friend (liquidating maybe?). I ended up going with the Boss ME-70, since the store policy was that they wouldn't buy a broken item, and in order for me to get anything out of it would be to do some sort of a trade. I've been happy with the Boss so far; the Clean preamp does a decent job of covering a Fender Twin, which is what I've been looking for. Plus the effects are pretty sweet. I'll be getting rid of a few pedals after this purchase.
