I am running XLR mono out to a PA system and need to be able to simultaneously monitor via headphones if possible...is it?

Our normal monitoring system is in need of repair.

Actually that is a stupid idea because the output would control both the PA and headphones...no doubt the headphone gain would be too much.

Not a stupid idea,,,,How about using an every day XLR "Y" from the mono out, one to the PA and the other to a another small mixer like a mackie or behringer, which would have a headphone out.

You can control the headphone volume, by adjusting the input level at the small mixer, and at the headphone volume control on the mixer.

I thought (maybe I'm wrong?) that with the M-Floor, using its headphone socket doesn't mute the other outputs (unlike the Mustang amps).

So, why not just plug headphones into the M-Floor's headphones socket, with the output to the PA using the XLR outputs? Possibly a volume control might be needed inline with the headphones, if they don't have one built-in already.

Or could the headphones be plugged into the unbalanced jack outputs (possibly with a suitable stereo-to-two-mono adapter) with the main output again using the XLR outputs?

(The latter may be better than the former, as I think using the headphones socket changes/limits the available output voicing options?).

Or if neither of the above will work, please explain as I'm curious!
