Hello

I have a Mustang 1 and I'm wondering if there is a problem with the gain settings. The gain led doesn't seem to be showing when I increase it. Also, i've been comparing the stock presets to the ones used in the video below and they sound nothing like it! The orange D and E sound awful! Is there a problem with the amp? It only sounds right when some headphones are plugged in.

I'm using a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster.

Thanks

Hi brunel12,

So, when you are referring to the 'Gain led', that led is actually for the foot switch. It will toggle between green and red as you would toggle through the two Presets you can program with the optional one button foot switch. As far as the various Presets and the sound quality, I would suggest if possible that you stop at your local music store and compare to a different unit there.

If that is not possible, you can also try a Factory reset. This can be done when you press/hold the Exit button while powering the amp on. Once the amp is powered back on, it is reset. Further, if a reset still seems to leave the amp sounding bad to you, please get in touch with us directly and we can offer some additional support that way. Thanks.

There is no Gain LED. That LED right there is for your Footswitch. It glows either Green for the "green" preset and Red for the "red" preset. You can program which two presets are set to those. If you have a simple on/off footswitch, that will work in that FTSW jack.

Keep in mind that the Mustang I and II are highly directional and that you should tilt your speaker back to point up at your face...or stick the amp on a table/counter so again, the speaker is pointed at your face.

Also, your headphones have been intentionally designed to be hi-fi speakers. The speaker in the Mustang is a GUITAR speaker - by definition, a LO-fi speaker. ALL guitar speakers are like that.

And your speaker should begin to sound better after a few weeks of playing as you break the speaker's shock damper in (the ring around the speaker cone).
